Mohammed Nuru, a former San Francisco official who is currently serving seven years in prison for public corruption for a massive bribe-and-kickback racket, allegedly orchestrated a DOCUMENTED coercive voting scheme to help elect Newsom mayor.

In January 2004, nine SLUG street cleaners spoke to the San Francisco Chronicle and claimed that Nuru pulled them off work to campaign door-to-door and collect absentee ballots. Four workers said that SLUG “crew chiefs” requested their voting receipts.

“I felt like I was in another country, like it was some kind of dictatorship,” one said.

Newsom won a narrow runoff. He received roughly 25,600 more absentee votes than his opponent.

San Francisco’s city attorney later confirmed that SLUG had misused city funds to influence an election, and the nonprofit was barred from receiving future city contracts.

Nuru is part of the circle of criminals surrounding Gavin Newson.
