Waiting on a Friend is from the album Tattoo You (1981), a disc assembled with several old tracks recorded in the 70s. Mick Jagger and Keith Richards wrote the song during the Goats Head Soup sessions (1973).
Released as a single in 1981, it peaked at #13 on the Billboard Hot 100. The video is one of the simplest and most charming of The Rolling Stones career: Mick walks the streets of New York, meets Keith in a bar, and in the end, the Stones play together.
Friday I'm In Love is from the album Wish (1992). Robert Smith wrote the song inspired by the famous "Friday Feeling," that feeling of relief and happiness at the end of the week.
He himself described the track as a kind of "inner joke" of the band: something absurdly cheerful and optimistic, totally different from the usual gothic sound of The Cure. With brilliant jangly guitars and an extremely addictive chorus, the song became one of the biggest hits of The Cure's career: #6 in the UK and #18 on the Billboard Hot 100. The single helped Wish become one of the band's best-selling albums, with over 4 million copies sold.
I hope you have a great Friday!
