In their first two NFL seasons, the only defensive linemen in the last 20 years to win Defensive Rookie of the Year and make 2x Pro Bowls:
🔸Ndamukong Suh
🔸Von Miller
🔸Aaron Donald
🔸Micah Parsons
🔸Jared Verse

@KenCarman We swapped an oldish elite edge for a young great one + picks.
Let's just see how this all works out, as wins (just like Garrett's time here), are likely more QB dependent than anything else anyway.
@DailyDawgsShow@NickPedone12@FanDuel Swapping an older elite edge for a younger great edge is a reset at one position.
The QB problem hasn't changed since Baker declined and left.
If you want to say "the Browns have no QB, & thus are always rebuilding", that's fair, but it's not due to this trade.
FWIW: The Micah Parsons trade contains a similar condition:
GB owes DAL a 2028 1st if Micah Parsons is traded to the NFC East
DAL owes GB a 2028 1st if Kenny Clark is traded to the NFC North
@TheRealLA__@OhioCr The swapping of an older elite/HOF edge for a young great/probowl edge isn't the difference in W's.
The right QB/HC combo is, which the Rams already have, and the Browns need to figure out.
That's the point. The swapping of an old elite/HOF edge for a young great/probowl edge isn't the concern
The QB/HC combo is
The Browns have the same main area of focus pre and post trade ... it's Monken and the QB choice.
The Rams already have the HC/QB combo, and that's why they may win it.
@finkn23 He's wayyyy better than mediocre, yet, nobody is Myles. 99% of us get that.
However, swapping an older HOF/elite edge for a young probowl/great edge isn't the issue for the #Browns.
It's fine, until we get the right QB.
QB is still the area of focus.

Bill Barnwell of ESPN reveals the worst-case scenario for Cleveland's blockbuster trade, warning that the Browns could look back with regret if Jared Verse tops out as a good-but-not-great pass rusher and the draft picks turn into late first-rounders.
"The Browns might also look back and wonder why they traded a Hall of Famer for a player who hasn't topped eight sacks as a pro. Verse might top out as a good-but-not-great pass rusher who shows more flashes of brilliance than sustained elite play. If the Browns trade Garrett for a solid pass-rusher and the 32nd pick in the draft as the two biggest parts of the return, that might not feel suitable in a deal for a future Hall of Famer."

Grades and opinions were a dime a dozen yesterday, but the impact of this trade is not going to be known for years.
If Cleveland uses those picks to finally land a quarterback who can produce wins, then it’s a win for them. If they turn those picks into three players who don’t impact the game, then it’s a loss. If the Rams win a Super Bowl, it’s a win. If they don’t, it’s probably a loss.
@finkn23 The swapping of edges doesn't matter until the real problem gets solved by the Browns, which is the right HC/QB combo.
Garrett's most winning seasons were the 2020 Baker-bump and the 2023 Flacco-bump.
Otherwise, no matter how great he was, we sat at the bottom of the AFCN.
Over the last 2 seasons in the (as now constructed) AFCN, the top 3 edges are in a near dead heat:
2024:
Hendrickson
Highsmith
Verse
2025:
Verse
Hendrickson/Highsmith (tied)
Edge isn't the thing holding the #Browns team back this fall.
