Notes
Julian comes into his HS career as one of the top Freshman to watch in all of Orange County. The 6β0β left handed guard seems to already have a big varsity roll at El Dorado in one of the most competitive leagues in the county. The buzz is real, coaches rave about his potential and he proved it winning the NXT Star 1v1 event this summer
Julian seems to have an outstanding feel for the game at a young age. His athleticism doesnβt jump off the charts, but itβs his pace of play and ability to change speed with the ball that really keeps defenders off balance. The measurables are legit too. At 6β0β+ with a 6β3β+ wingspan, Julianβs length shows up in many different aspects offensively and defensively
Julianβs development is definitely worth keeping an eye on for colleges of all divisions. jumper looks effortless, and he gets to his shot without rushing. His change of pace and the way he controls the tempo make him tough to guard, and the game never looks too fast for him
Player Evaluation: Jordan Cordero (@magic_jay6)
PG β’ CO 2028 β’ Sonora HS
Jordan had one of the most impressive performances at Evaluation Day #2. The Junior PG was our leading scorer of the day, and in addition, he elevated the performance of everyone else on his team. This rare combination of being able to get your own while also improving the overall play of his teammates is exactly what college coaches look for in a PG. Thrown onto a team with players he never had played with, Jordan was the vocal leader of the team and created good looking possessions on offense nearly every time down the court. Made it look like a team that had chemistry, not one that was thrown together on the spot
Jordan was also able to show off his scoring ability, especially impressed with his ability to get to his spot and knock down jumpers. The undersized guard had no issue rising over his defender and knocking down his shot with a hand in his face. He also showed no hesitation and great accuracy from well beyond the 3pt line, and the quickness and creativity to score at the basket
His frame limits how much he can contest shots, fight through ball screens, and guard bigger perimeter players. He will need to offset that with positioning and effort. His rotations need to be sharper and more on time, because help and recovery decisions matter more for an undersized guard than for one who can recover with length. College coaches will test him in ball-screen coverage and in switches onto larger wings, and he has to show he can hold up there. His feel and communication, both strengths on offense, should carry over once the rotations are cleaner
