Grateful to Times columnist @FraserNelson for revealing that instead of employing our own home-trained doctors we are importing 20,000 a year, meaning, unbelievably, we have hired one in six of Nigeria’s doctors and one in ten of Pakistan’s.
The reason is that it cost £160,000 to train our people and nothing if they are foreign. Totally wrong and today leads to many of our own unable to find work here and, incredibly, going abroad.
We should stop these imports. There was a record 28,000 applications to medical schools for just 8,000 places this year.
Labour seems to find money at the drop of a hat for anybody claiming benefits,
how about finding money to train people who actually want to work.
