I used a modified telescope to capture high-speed video of the eclipse at a long focal length. Seeing the lumpy mountains of the moon against a backdrop of churning plasma is incredibly surreal.
(I hope you weren't sick of eclipse posts 😜)
A perfect alignment, and I couldn't be happier with how it turned out. I decided to release this image as a limited edition print, which you can find here: https://t.co/sxd3fl9He3
This is just phenomenal work @AJamesMcCarthy 👍🆒️ Thanks so much for your passionate efforts which fascinate and educate the world! I look forward to your posts daily!!
I still can't believe I can get detailed photos of other worlds like this. This is Ganymede, nearly the size of Mars, orbiting Jupiter 400 million miles away. Photos like this help me appreciate just how powerful backyard telescopes are.
Captured Thursday from a 14" scope.
Stunning compilation of the lightning display over the Volcán de Agua, Guatemala, on July 10, 2023.
The show lasted for approximately 45 minutes over impressive lenticular clouds, allowing photographers to capture the phenomenon

My first viral space image wasn't just the moon- but our whole solar system (or at least the parts I had captured by then.) This is what my astrophotography looked like in 2018. I'm about to answer the question of how this would look if I did it in 2023.
