So a source from Chelsea leaked that Myles Lewis-Skelly had been offered to them.

By who? No one knows. The journalists that reported the exclusive don’t even know.

They ran the story anyway.

Myles Lewis-Skelly’s camp, including his mum who is his agent, were shocked when this news broke. Arsenal were also shocked.

News later followed that the player only wants to stay at Arsenal and isn’t interested in leaving. This story seems to have come from the players’ camp, shutting down the false reports this morning.

Chelsea tried their luck. Now go look elsewhere. He’s ours.

GK: Meslier - we need to see him play 90 mins as Kepa can not be trusted

RB: Mosquera - better at RB due to aerial weakness

RCB: Salmon - we need to see him play for a 60 mins. He was great today and may play more minutes than expected. Use the last preseason game to see if he is ready.

LCB: Gabriel - clearly not full throttle but see what a partnership with Salmon looks like.

LB: Hincapié - Calafiori shouldn’t play twice in a week in preseason when we have Hincapié to get up to speed as well.

CM: Lewis-Skelly - continue to show faith. He has played fine but been left a bit exposed without a midfield parter.

CM: Bruno G / Zubimendi - give both 45 mins to not overwhelm them and see how they both partner with Lewis-Skelly.

AM: Ødegaard - looked good today. More minutes ahead of starting on Sunday.

RW: Dowman - sparkling moments. Keep starting him. Saka off the bench for 15 mins to see how he responds with 30 mins on Sunday.

LW: Tzolis - our best player in preseason. Looking forward to seeing him when we have a proper midfield and he can focus on final 3rd actions which have been very promising so far.

CF: Havertz - end the midfield experiment. Start him with Tzolis and a proper midfield and see if he is still a starting level CF that can lead the line. Gyökeres on in the second half to keep both fresh.

Preseason results don’t matter but partnerships, patterns and fitness do. Last preseason game has to be used to actually learn what will and won’t work.

Mikel Arteta says that Jurrien Timber is still “weeks” from returning from a groin injury but that the defender is “progressing well”.

Timber, 25, withdrew from the Netherlands’ World Cup squad this summer due to an ongoing groin issue that he initially suffered against Everton in March.
