Utilities Kingston is warning customers to beware of phone calls and text messages pretending to be from Utilities Kingston or Kingston Hydro and demanding payment for utilities. This is a scam.
Due to the wide-spread nature of this outage, our outage map and phone lines are overwhelmed and we thank you for your patience. In the event of a serious utility emergency, such as a downed powerline or suspected gas leak, call 9-1-1 immediately.
Please spread the word and help us protect #ygk from this scam. Today, we've already received four phone calls from victims. One was defrauded $1,000 and another $2,000. The scam appears to be targeting realtors or home owners who recently listed their property for sale.
