उत्तर प्रदेश के चार मेडिकल कॉलेज 4 SCP कॉलेज में पहले राउंड की कॉउंसिलग के लिए 91.76% आरक्षण को कैंसिल कर दिया है, इसमें 50% आरक्षण पर ही काउंसिलिंग होगी, इसके लिए @neha_laldas जी का विशेष रोल है, जिन्होंने इसे इलाहाबाद हाईकोर्ट से स्टे कराया।

Clarity Requires On Economically Weaker Section (EWS) Quota as Cabinet Approves New Reservation Policy

Odisha Cabinet decision to revise reservation quotas for technical and professional courses has triggered a major question: what happens to the existing 10% EWS reservation?

What has changed?

Under the new policy announced on April 4, 2026:
Reservation for Scheduled Castes (SC): Increased from 8% → 16.25%

Scheduled Tribes (ST): Increased from 12% → 22.50%

SEBC (Socially & Educationally Backward Classes): New 11.25% quota introduced

Total vertical reservation now = 50% (SC + ST + SEBC)

What remains unclear?

The Cabinet announcement does NOT mention several existing categories:
EWS (10%)
Green Card (5%)
PwD / PC (5%)
Ex-Servicemen (3%)
Women (30%)
TFW (5%)
OL (3%)
State Government Schools (15%)

The Big Question: What about EWS?
The earlier 10% EWS quota was part of vertical reservations
Now, with SC + ST + SEBC already reaching 50%, there is no clarity whether EWS will continue, be reduced, or be removed

What is likely unchanged?

Categories like Women, PwD, ES, TFW, OL, SGS are horizontal/special reservations

These typically operate within vertical categories, so they are likely to continue unchanged. But clarity is required on these horizontal and special reservations too. #Odisha

It was the BJP—and it has always been the BJP—that harmed Savarna communities.

Congress feared losing General Category votes. But we Savarna fools are the BJP’s vote bank. The BJP never had to worry about losing our votes.
