Tomorrow, the High Court will deliver its ruling on the impeachment case involving Gachagua
There are two possible outcomes:
1. Allow him to continue with his political ambitions
2. Bring his political ambitions to an end
I hope the court will consider option 2
Kalonzo is one big joker. I mean, a very serious joker.
The guy organized a fundraising dinner last night. It was supposed to be the talk of the town. It was a KSh 25,000-per-plate event, meant to bring together the who's who of Kenya in support of his presidential bid.
It was supposed to attract multimillionaire sponsors willing to stand with Kalonzo. It was supposed to draw renowned business moguls ready to back him after 44 years in public service. It was also expected to feature global figures with whom Kalonzo has built relationships throughout his long political career.
Whenever Raila held similar fundraising dinners, we would see former presidents, former prime ministers, and other global figures flying in from all over the world. Even influential leaders such as Narendra Modi would send representatives and donations.
In fact, during Raila's fundraising events, you often had to book a month in advance. Seats for locals sometimes had to be limited to create space for friends and supporters arriving from different parts of the world.
Then comes Kalonzo — the so-called "6th."
Look at the people around him. The same familiar faces from Ukambani, apart from Senator Dan Maanzo, who is now being labelled a mole. The crowd mainly consisted of aspiring MCAs, MPs, senators, and gubernatorial candidates from Ukambani and coastal regions with significant Kamba populations. There were also a few aspirants from Garissa County seeking to win over Kamba voters.
No major business leaders seemed to be present, apart from Mutua the tyre repairer from Industrial Area.
Seriously?
A man who has occupied some of the most powerful public offices in the country for 44 years raises only KSh 9.75 million for a presidential campaign?
Isn't that the definition of a serious joker?
No wonder Rigathi Gachagua and John Methu keep referring to them as "joyriders."
Bure kabisa.
