The Delta State Police Command has confirmed the arrest and transfer of ASP Nuhu Usman to Force Headquarters, Abuja, following the shooting of a 28-year-old suspect, Mene Ogidi, in Effurun on April 26, 2026.
In a press release, the Command described the incident as extra judicial carried out in violation of Force Order 237 and standard procedures.
The officer, who led the operation based on intelligence that the suspect was attempting to transport a firearm, has been queried and will face disciplinary action and possible prosecution.
The development comes after a widely circulated video showed the suspect restrained on the ground, pleading for his life and offering to cooperate with the officers.
In the footage, he is seen providing information before being shot at close range by one of the armed men, believed to be police personnel, triggering widespread outrage and calls for accountability.
