The session emphasized the role of prosecutors in preparing trial-ready cases, managing evidence, examining witnesses, and ensuring due process throughout High Court proceedings.
Mr. Batson Baguma, Chief State Attorney, presented on criminal trial procedures in Magistrates’ Courts, covering institution of proceedings, plea taking, hearings, submissions, judgement, and sentencing.
State Attorneys were encouraged to apply sound legal principles, uphold professionalism, and ensure fair and efficient administration of justice across all court levels.

Emerging trends such as online child sexual exploitation were discussed, alongside the need for continuous capacity building and self-care for justice actors handling sensitive cases.
