Structure looks stable and properly framed.
I'd even say that the structural engineer is kind of conservative because I would have increased the span in some panels and made the beams deeper, and then have a ceiling cover up everything for aesthetics.

One Nigeria's business man that continues to fascinate me is Gbengbeleku.

Chief Solomon Adebayo Ayoku was a pioneering Nigerian entrepreneur whose sharp business instincts helped shape the country’s modern gaming and pools-betting industry. He was also a consummate real estate investor (Golden Gate).

Alongside his close friend and business partner Chief Kessington Adebukunola Adebutu (popularly known as Baba Ijebu), Ayoku co-founded Face-to-Face Pools Betting Company, registered around 1971. The two had earlier worked as pools agents for the same company in the 1960s (Nairapool?).

Recognizing an opportunity in a business that required relatively little capital yet offered strong potential, they built a transparent, customer-focused operation that emphasized prompt payment of winnings and built lasting public trust.

This partnership laid foundational groundwork for what later evolved into Premier Lotto Limited (Baba Ijebu), one of Nigeria’s leading gaming companies. Their shared vision and complementary strengths turned a modest pools operation into a household name that created jobs, generated revenue, and influenced the broader entertainment and gaming sector. Ayoku’s contribution as co-founder and partner demonstrated practical acumen: spotting a scalable opportunity early, prioritizing honesty and reliability in a stigmatized industry at the time, and collaborating effectively to grow the enterprise.

Adebutu from Iperu and Ayoku from Ede struck such a tight bond despite the reported significant age difference between them. Their collaboration stands out as a classic example of long-term business friendship rooted in mutual trust rather than hierarchy.

I've travelled on this road a couple of times. One can easily differentiate between the gulf in the quality of work done by Craneburg and the other contractor, both in concrete and asphalt.

The concept of a ring road encircling Ibadan's urban area was first proposed during the Lam Adesina administration in 2002, when an inter-ministerial committee was constituted for the purpose.

The first substantive progress came under Governor Rashidi Ladoja (2003–2007). His administration funded the survey of the road and in 2005 completed the Right-of-Way (RoW) survey, fixing the corridor at 75 metres on each side.

Compensation was paid to all property owners within that corridor. On Ladoja's exit in 2007, the project stalled for a decade.

Petrol prices have shot up this morning, a quick reaction to the news of Dangote pricing in USD, and that’s okay.

The problem is: when global prices go down, in reaction to a news/development, these guys say they can’t immediately adjust prices downward because of “old stock”.

Part of the reason I don’t want more kids. Parenting is very tough, you can only try your best. A kid will definitely grow up to make their own choices and there’s nothing you can do about it.
