@citizentvkenya@OBurrows Kindly ask njuki this:why is it so easy for COG to insists on having these staff on punitive contract and terms for the next 10months, instead just show a goodwill move and immediately allow the change of term of engagement to pnp, these are children of this nation, not foreigners
In my address to hundreds of healthcare workers at Afya House, I pledged to address long-standing employment concerns affecting them, under the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) program, within the next three weeks.
I assured them of my commitment to resolving key issues, including the settlement of gratuity and transitioning workers with over five years of service to Permanent and Pensionable (PnP) terms.
Moreover, I emphasized fairness and equity in addressing health sector concerns through consultative solutions that prioritize the welfare of healthcare professionals.
Additionally, I reaffirmed my commitment to strengthening Kenya's healthcare system while cracking down on unqualified practitioners in the sector.
I was joined by the Ministry's top leadership led by Principal Secretaries Ms @psmuthoni (Public Health and Professional Standards) and Mr. Harry Kimtai (Medical Services) as well DG Health Dr. @DrPatrickAmoth.
Healthcare workers under the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) programme are currently protesting in Nairobi, demanding permanent and pensionable employment.
They are calling for equal pay, arguing that they handle the same workload as their permanently employed colleagues.
The workers are pushing for the immediate payment of their pending gratuity and the remittance of their National Social Security Fund (NSSF) deductions.
They have blamed the Ministry of Health and Parliament of ignoring their petitions.
If a neurosurgeon trains a clinician to be a neurosurgery clinical officer and goes ahead and even trains him how to do burr holes successfully, why complain when the same clinicians demand to be allowed to do the burr holes? Why are doctors in this case obs/gyns gatekeeping clinical officers from doing cesarean sections yet they teach and train them to do the same. I worked with an experienced reproductive health clinician when I was an intern and that man was very knowledgeable in theory and practice.
If you have failed to regulate medical practice don’t come use clinicians as scapegoats, solve the systemic issues. It’s either you do away with clinical medicine or if you can’t learn to coexist with it. Doctors are still in denial but they need to wake up and smell the coffee.
Who is this fella who thinks they can speak for Clinical Officers? Clinical Officers have their own Union @kUCOofficial. Busy bodies should take note @MOH_Kenya
@ggiste When you talk of moving forward th country, the political class mention Singapore,But when kenyans ask for accountability you start mentioning sudan and Burkinafso.
@Nakhumicha_S If this doesnt give a wake up call at MOH to the realisation of the fact that Healthcare workers(students, interns, employed and non employed) are Fckn tired. So tired that we'd rather take anyone head on that seem to be against the people. #Tumechoka!!!!
