Here's a “Floater”, it knows the wave height at its position, and uses that information to apply force up if below “water level”.

"Hugh! I heard more than a MILLION people got our game! Hey…do you think we're famous on Earth now?"

@BecomingCaptain Nice! There comes a point when you learn enough about your own project that you see you're doing it wrong.
Just call it "refactoring" and it's all good.
@BecomingCaptain Get familiar with your scope creeper. It's your pet now.
Take how long you think a feature will take and double it.
Fixed deadline (like a Gamejam)? Cut the features to fit the doubling.
It will probably still take longer.
Treat your creeper well and it'll start to help you.
Do you like Lego and flight simulators?
Glad I caught the Playtest before it closed. Solid execution and looks really promising!

I like how "videogame" is such a new medium people don't quite even get the questions, much less the answers!
Like they know they shouldn't look for "How to draw Mona Lisa", but "how to draw faces", for example.
Gamedev will get there, but I'm not in a rush. I like to help. And you're doing a great job!
