Paying British firms to hire foreign workers is directly rewarding them for *not* training up our young people.
This whole system is being propped up by countries far poorer than us who still manage to train their own.
Rachel Reeves will reimburse British firms £5,000 per foreign worker in a bid to make the country more attractive despite the UK’s growing youth unemployment crisis

If the Government has £5,000 to spend per worker, it should be investing it in British young people struggling to find work, not incentivising companies to recruit from abroad when youth unemployment in the UK is so high.
Strange policy decisions.
Everyone calls us a robotics company.
We are a stone company.
The robots exist because Britain no longer has the armies of carvers and stonemasons who built Blenheim, Castle Howard, and Westminster.
We are rebuilding that capacity.
Coroner said Nowak couldn't have been saved, because of nature of wounds. But this is absurd: they switched to CPR *after* he passed away having cuffed him behind his back & likely *accelerating* his death
"A sad case". It's like they can't grasp the gravity of what's happened.
This is most striking figure from Millburn Review. They estimate that around half of the 18-24 population who are not in education, employment or training (NEET) are not claiming any benefits. This limits how effective reforms to the benefit system can be in cutting NEET rates.
A classic example of how we continue to diminish a public realm. Thank you @MayorofLondon for creating water fountains. But we live in London with a rich history & culture not in some placeless PlayMobil town
@createstreets@transportgovuk Desperately needed. Hopefully the government treats this as more than just a press release and actually accepts recommendations
Twitter has convinced itself that bond market traders are all crazed Randians who hate the state.
Not so. The Swedish and the Danish government can borrow at sensationally cheap rates. Bond markets like sound public finances. They don't care about big state vs small state.
