We find ourselves in a pandemic of second-hand embarrassment from a barrage of self-appointed, minimally qualified spokespeople undermining knowledge & its people.
Don’t fall into the confidence trap. The loudest & most performative voices in the room master stagecraft & the art of the spectacle, & are, more often than not, embarrassingly wrong without a hint of self-awareness.
Master silence, sit patiently and learn, & protect yourself with solid principles & the major scholars who exemplify the application of deeply rooted knowledge.
We’ve survived worse. This too shall pass.
This year’s Sufyān al-Thawrī Conference begins tonight in Sheffield @MasjidHudaSheff at 6pm (‘Asr prayer) in’sha’Allah.
The opening talk will be a tele-link with Shaikh ‘Arafāt al-Muhammadī حفظه الله تعالى @Arafatbinhassan “A General Advice & Guidance” starting at 6.15pm BST (8.15pm Makkah).

📄 Can a Woman Wipe Over Her Khimār During Wuḍūʾ?

Especially in the summer months with these late 'Eshaa' times & early Fajr times, people of worship do not talk much after 'Eshaa' & socialize; their hearts are connected to something greater.
One of the easiest ways to ruin your night prayers & your Fajr prayer is staying up late without need.
Get to sleep after 'Eshaa' prayer & seek reward in doing so, as it is needed rest which enables you to worship by Allah's Permission. As some of the Salaf used to say: A real worshipper's sleep is counted as worship for him (because of his intention).
Do not be like the heedless, staying up late, eating, socializing, loose talking, and then incapable of getting up for prayer in its time. How obvious is this trap, yet how many are caught in it?!

“How similar is our Shaikh’s condition to that of yesterday…”
Ibn al-Jawzī reported in Manāqib al-Imām Ahmad (p.148) with his chain from al-Khallāl, who said: al-Maymūnī told me: I heard Alī ibn al-Madīnī say:
“No one carried the burden of Islām after the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ as Ahmad ibn Hanbal did.”
He was asked: “O Abu al-Hasan, not even Abū Bakr al-Siddīque?” He replied: “Not even Abū Bakr al-Siddīque, for Abū Bakr al-Siddīque had helpers and companions, whereas Ahmad ibn Hanbal had no helpers and no companions.”
I say: SubhānAllāh, how similar is the condition of our Shaikh, Al-Imām al-Rabi‘, at a certain period of his life, to what Al-Imām ibn al-Madīnī said about Al-Imām Ahmad — may Allāh have mercy on them all. He strove with his pen and tongue against the people of disbelief, heresy, misleading innovations, and the symbols of deviation and misguidance, with decisive proofs and clear evidence — such that his misguided opponents fabricated against him all kinds of lies and blatant falsehoods.
Yet even so, many people now claim, after his death, that he has virtue upon them, that he preceded them in supporting the Sunnah and defending it, and so on… where were these people when the people of disbelief, heresy, innovation, and desires hurled every vile accusation, slander, and lie at him? Where were they in defending him and the truth he defended and clarified?
Many merely stood by as spectators, while others took the stance of gloaters, stabbers, or discouragers. They did not fulfill their religious duty to support the truth and its people. And everyone knows that our Shaikh — may Allāh have mercy on him — paid no attention to this, for he knew with certainty that no one walks the path of the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ except that he will be opposed — as in the hadīth in Sahīh al-Bukhārī.
May Allāh have mercy on our Shaikh and make what he presented and left behind of sound scholarly legacy a continuous charity for him after his death. O Allāh, Āmīn.

Among The Forms of A Student's Ingratitude Towards His Teacher
Shaykh ʿAbdur-Raḥmān Al-Mawāsī @muwasi1395 (may Allāh preserve him) writes:
❝Ingratitude is not limited to disobedience towards one's parents. Rather, it has many forms, and among them is a student's ingratitude towards his shaykh and teacher.
A shaykh devotes his time and effort to teaching, guiding, and nurturing his students. At times, he may set aside his own personal needs and family commitments, giving preference instead to benefiting and teaching his students.
Part of loyalty and good manners is that a student preserves the rights of his shaykh, continues to ask about him, visit him, and check on his well-being according to his ability, and that he does not forget his favour upon him if he moves to another land, studies under another shaykh, or becomes occupied with his work.
Among the forms of ingratitude is that a student forgets the virtue of his shaykh after benefiting from him, cuts off connection with him without reason, or speaks disparagingly of him and denies the good that he received from him.
More severe than that is for a student to spend years receiving knowledge and guidance, then turn against his shaykh, speaking about him or warning against him without proof or evidence, or abandoning his gatherings in pursuit of personal desires or because of rumours.❞

While advancements in AI might seem troubling & threatening from a number of angles, there is a wonderful hidden benefit to consider.
The possibility of faked video/audio which might seem like stand-alone proofs require people of Sunnah to know about and return to their principles. In this case (even before AI): Recordings are never stand-alone proofs; they can only be used to strengthen a narrator's testimony. Meaning: The person who has the recording must be known & offer his testimony before the recording could be assigned any value. Then, further conditions would apply to using such a recording as proof.
This is what I have learned from our scholars decades ago in detailed Fiqh discussion, when there was much less of a chance to "doctor" footage or "splice" recordings. Recordings are only a "qareenah" (circumstantial support) along with someone's testimony; they are not valid as proof when isolated without their creator/narrator.
Of course, this is if the people are returning verdicts to judges and issues back to scholars. If they wish to follow their desires and play by their own rules with anonymous accounts on social media, then real people of Sunnah who know their religion ignore them, while they might still have a limited effect on some of the heedless & ignorant Muslims who do not know these rulings. (The greatest form of self-harm is: Ignorance of essential matters.)
Again, the "wonderful hidden benefit" is that Muslims would see a greater need to learn knowledge-based principles in interacting with claims & evidence and be more diligent and precise in applying them. With AI-created and AI-assisted content spreading everywhere, even the general masses of people are losing trust in stand-alone video/audio content, something that might have fooled them 10 years ago.
A number of scholars have been warning against the harm & discord spread by Abu Iyaad Amjad Rafiq of SalafiPublications (UK) for years. May Allah be kind to us & him, rectify our affairs & his, & guide us & him.
Some of them have done so by broad generalities in their advice, hoping he would take heed & rectify himself. Others sent advice directly or through trusted advisors. Some were more stern & direct, like the great scholar of al-Madeenah, Shaykh 'Abdullah al-Bukhary (may Allah protect & preserve him), who said:
"...In every crisis, whether it be religious or worldly, there are those who thrive in its ruins & profit from it..."
"...[He] wants to be known for opposition & resistance, and that he is the concerned one with intellect...
"...They speak ill of the people of knowledge, understanding & investigation..."
"...They claim that the people of knowledge do not understand the situation, that they do not know, & they only give verdicts based on what is said to them! What is the difference between you & ‘Amr ibn ‘Ubayd, the Mu’tazilee, when he said about Ibn Seereen & al-Hasan that they were scholars of [women’s menstrual] pads? What is the difference!?..."
"...He lives among the polytheists, while he accuses the people of towheed of falling into polytheism!?..."
However much apprehension you may have regarding this issue, these statements here are accurate & hit the nail on the head. May Allah bless Shaykh 'Abdullah for these words of concern and warning against evil.

Since there has been no hint of any desire for rectification (rather quite the opposite), we openly warn against Amjad & the harm he continues to cause, seeking the pleasure of Allah, without any fear of blame, without any concern for frustrated trolls or deeply offended blind followers. We stand with the Book & the Sunnah, with our scholars who teach and clarify, in solidarity behind them, as we always do. May Allah keep us firm.
May Allah reward our scholars for their sincere advice & warnings; may He allow us to benefit from that & stay safe from disgrace, harm & discord.
