Waymo's system supports a vision-only mode by the way and my guess is that it performs better than Tesla. So they can always pivot to a camera-only HW.

They're likely working on a system for personally owned vehicles (via Toyota partnership), only a matter of time before there's a Waymo hw package for car makers.
