I used @forestbike_uk for the first time yesterday, just for a change from Lime bike, and it was a terrible experience. Tried to end the trip at the parking zone along with other bikes, but they still have charged me £20 parking fee. I’ve emailed since 9 am today, no response

Hi @forestbike_uk your app was down and this bike is still running. Your live chat isn’t working, your phone lines are closed. I’ve emailed.
On its 17th hour now.
Interesting piece in the FT today comparing Europe to the U.S.
The prevailing narrative on X is that Europe is completely cooked and the US is pulling away.
Some counter stats from @martinwolf_:
> US life expectancy is 4 years lower than Europe
> Murder rate is 5x in the US
> Prison population is 5x in the US
The big point in favour of the US is GDP growth, which has MASSIVELY out done Europe's.
HOWEVER if you at relative GDP per head, the reverse is true: Eurozone GDP per head has risen relative to the US’s.
The outcome of this is that, despite growing a lot faster, the US isn't actually that much richer than Europe today.
Well worth reading the article to understand why, but essentially, measuring GDP growth and comparing across various countries is a lot more complicated than a single high-level "GDP per capita" metric captures.
We shouldn't be so dogmatic in our approach to measuring GDP or claiming to understand it.
The other key takeaway is that we would be SO much richer if Europe had grown faster
🚨 Morgan Rogers set to start on right for England in #FIFAWorldCup semi-final v #Argentina. Opportunity would see 23yo Aston Villa forward rewarded after impact off bench against Norway & form for #AVFC + #England across Thomas Tuchel reign @TheAthleticFC https://t.co/f3tAfwuZXu
