@insulatesoldier — that drew her to him.
“Mr. Abbott.”
She greeted, carrying a tray of what one could call a ‘meal’ of slop they’d been provided.
Irene glanced over her shoulder at one of the heads of her department, then back at the man laying in front of her.
“How did you sleep?”
Irene Jones fluttered from ten to tent, cot to cot, man to man as quickly as her legs would carry her. Her medical bag flowing like a scarf behind her. The nurse did her best to finish as quickly as she could, and as effectively as she could.
There were —
( @insulatesoldier )
@insulatesoldier It had been weeks since she first met with the young British man, she visited more often than she should. In fact, she spent more time with him than she did other patients— which her head nurse did not particularly agree with.
She wasn’t sure exactly what it was about the man —
@insulatesoldier — Love? No. She didn’t believe in love at first sight. Perhaps hate at first sight. She certainly didn’t hate him.
“I’d say a week or so, after that — we may be able to release you.”
Not that she wanted him to go.
@insulatesoldier “We’ll, given the fact that you’ve just been shot . . . I would say a while.”
She stated, almost flabbergasted. Had he forgotten about that?
Irene had never felt such strong emotions towards someone — what emotions those were, she wasn’t sure. Joy? Yes. Interest? Certainly. —
@insulatesoldier — the pack on himself, biting down on her lip. Luckily he listened to her, at least.
Delicate hands reached to adjust the pack just slightly, as she saw his little since.
“Now you know better.”
She wiped off the sweat from his face with a clean towel.
@insulatesoldier “I’m shocked, Philip. I would’ve expected much better of you.”
She rolled her eyes. Of course he got shot because he was being stupid. Irene wasn’t surprised.
“Didn’t listen to what you were told?”
Irene leaned back in her chair, shaking her head. She watched him place —
@insulatesoldier “We’ll see about that.”
Though, she wouldn’t mind some company at the house in the months leading up to their child.
“Only a few more months, then we’ll have a baby.”
She grinned.
@insulatesoldier “You really did knock me up.”
Irene removed her hand and studied her husband’s face. She mirrored his expression, face fully beaming though water in her eyes.
“This is the first time it’s happened when you’re here.”
@insulatesoldier — on top, don’t put too much pressure.”
Her nurse ‘voice’ returned, firm.
“How’d it happen?”
She eyed the man’s wound, then raised a brow.
@insulatesoldier — been struck by such a handsome man as this. Though, she wouldn’t let him see that.
“Philip, it’s a pleasure- though I’d rather it be somewhere nicer as well.”
The nurse smiled, taking a seat next to the man. She offered an iced pack for his wound as well,
“Very lightly —
