— at least entertain her? instead he’s being this ghost of a man, just following her around like a puppy. it’s dull.

“why did you sent her away? I told you I’d be fine.”

['𝒄𝒊𝒔𝒔𝒂 @ofdaffodils]

she merely raises an eyebrow when she watches him turn and dismiss the unknown woman after all.

the puzzled look on her features remaining when he decides to sit down next to her in silence. this exactly being why she has been so snarky. if he wanted to be here, wouldn’t he —

[𝐋𝐔𝐂𝐈𝐔𝐒. @CURSEDLlGHT]

He couldn’t quite place the source of the sharpness in Narcissa’s tone, only that something had shifted since morning. She had made it painfully clear she wanted nothing to do with him, and he told himself there was no point lingering —— especially when Narcissa had never ;

['𝒄𝒊𝒔𝒔𝒂 @ofdaffodils]

needing him? no. wanting him near? maybe. it was no use showing that to him anyways, he’s made it clear plenty of times he was only spending time with her because of his apparent ‘duties’. whatever those may be.

she lowers her book once more, Narcissa pushing herself up —

[𝐋𝐔𝐂𝐈𝐔𝐒. @CURSEDLlGHT]

He casts a fleeting glance toward where she lies at ease, and a quiet thought settles in —— maybe she has never truly needed him at all. The realization lingers longer than he expects, dull and unwelcome, before he turns away to finish a brief, absent exchange with Eloise. ;

— to a seated position so she could properly look at Lucius when he suggests leaving.

“thought you were so adamant on being my chaperone because my father told you so?” she questions, a snarky undertone to her voice. Eyes glancing momentarily at this woman, who he’s evidently —

['𝒄𝒊𝒔𝒔𝒂 @ofdaffodils]

at least he has one.

[𝑷𝑶𝑻𝑻𝑬𝑹. @CH0SENXNE]

Poor Draco, having Lucius as a dad.

['𝒄𝒊𝒔𝒔𝒂 @ofdaffodils]

she turns to lay on her stomach instead, watching him from the distance for a moment, then turns back to continue to read her book. making the most of this sunny weather whilst she still could.

[𝐋𝐔𝐂𝐈𝐔𝐒. @CURSEDLlGHT]

A warm, easy laugh slipped from his lips as he drifted toward a nearby cart, selecting a bottle of milk with casual ease. On his way back, he nearly collided with a fellow Ministry colleague —— an accident that quickly turned into a light, friendly exchange between the two.

['𝒄𝒊𝒔𝒔𝒂 @ofdaffodils]

of course, now he has a witty remark. she already regrets putting that imagine into his head.

“ew.” she grimaces, then shouting after him “don’t even think about it, Lucius!”

[𝐋𝐔𝐂𝐈𝐔𝐒. @CURSEDLlGHT]

He tilted his head to the side, a smirk slowly forming across his brims. “As a matter of fact, I think without those fancy clothes —— you’ll be a good maid.”

Of course, he is jesting . . . Sighing, he stood up to get his drink instead.

['𝒄𝒊𝒔𝒔𝒂 @ofdaffodils]

furrows her brows at his question. why didn’t he get it with his sandwich? b͟e͟f͟o͟r͟e he came up here to join her.

“do I look like a maid to you? you’ve got two legs that work perfectly fine.”

[𝐋𝐔𝐂𝐈𝐔𝐒. @CURSEDLlGHT]

“And I will definitely tell your father this sentiment of yours.” Lucius answered back before looking over at her —— feeling completely parched.

“ . . . buy me a drink?”

['𝒄𝒊𝒔𝒔𝒂 @ofdaffodils]

lowers her book to lay it upon her chest, Narcissa turning her head to look at him.

“I told you before, I don’t need a chaperone. I can take care of myself.”

[𝐋𝐔𝐂𝐈𝐔𝐒. @CURSEDLlGHT]

He despised the prickling feeling of wasted worry —— the way it sat under his skin, needling him for caring more than he meant to. . . so took a deliberate bite of his sandwich, chewing louder than necessary.

“I hope your next chaperone will be much more tolerable.”

['𝒄𝒊𝒔𝒔𝒂 @ofdaffodils]

gives him a side glance. well, her alone time was nice for as long as it lasted.

“finally sniffed me out, huh? took you long enough.” what she would have given to see the panic on his face once he had noticed she had gone..

[𝐋𝐔𝐂𝐈𝐔𝐒. @CURSEDLlGHT]

Apparently, it took him almost an hour before finally seeing Narcissa —— with a book in hand.

He sat down beside her without speaking any word before taking a bite of the sandwich that he bought.
