I have always believed blockchain infrastructure should be able to scale with demand
but rn most blockchains scale like it's 2005
when the network needs to do more work, every validator is expected to run a bigger and more powerful machine
it is like upgrading the same PC every time you need more performance instead of adding more machines and distributing the work
that's not how any serious internet-scale system works today
and that's why @Mysten_Labs we are working toward a very different model for scaling blockchains
a validator should not be limited to one machine, it should become a cluster, with a coordinator managing a pool of worker machines
when demand grows, add another worker and keep going
this is how modern cloud systems scale, and it is how blockchain infrastructure should scale too
Remora is a major step toward that vision
one of my favourite quotes of all time is this
"the purpose of life is to be defeated by greater and greater things"
libra was the first great thing that defeated us
we set out to do for money what the internet did for information, and we did not get to ship it
so we went and rebuilt everything from the ground up to finally build what we wanted the first time, the most advanced rails the world has ever had for payments and finance
we built it and we had some really huge wins, but some huge challenges too
and it is supposed to be hard and challenging
you do not get to attempt something this big and have the world hand it to you
there have been setbacks the whole way, and there will be bigger ones ahead, because we keep aiming at bigger things
and that is the whole point
you do not grow by winning small. you grow by taking on what could beat you and sometimes it does
then you get back up, you win, and you go again
so here is the thing in front of us rn
make sui the network the world moves its money on, and nothing is going to make us stop until it is done
crypto is the youngest frontier industry
chains didn't even scale until 2.5y ago and were borderline unusable at high traffic. not anymore
either the industry is over forever, or you're emotional and outsourced your brain to a chart
we get 10x bigger from here
Bear markets separate the teams who build from the teams who tweet. We chose building. Heads down, every day, on infrastructure most people won't appreciate until the moment they suddenly need it.
That moment is coming faster than the market thinks.
@Selkis_2028 We are leaving the anger stage and now entering the depression stage in the market. Biggest opportunities you will get for the next 2-3 years is approaching
