Speaking at the Inauguration of Administrative & Hostel Building of District Panchayat Resource Centre, Tinsukia
Live from Makum: https://t.co/8jCK0nKc8A
Strengthening Panchayati Raj institutions is key to accelerating rural development and empowering grassroots governance.
Under the visionary leadership of Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. @himantabiswa, I had the privilege of inaugurating the Administrative and Hostel Building of the Tinsukia District Panchayat Resource Centre (DPRC) at Makum today.
Established under the Golap Borbora State Institute of Panchayat and Rural Development (GBSIPRD) at a cost of ₹2 crore, the state-of-the-art facility features modern training infrastructure, well-equipped classrooms, a computer room and hostel accommodation for 30 trainees.
With 13 DPRCs already functioning across various districts of Assam and 10 more under construction, this initiative reflects our commitment to strengthening grassroots institutions and building the capacity of Panchayati Raj functionaries across the state.
The Centre will serve as a vital hub for training and capacity building of elected representatives of Gaon Panchayats, Anchalik Panchayats and Zilla Parishad, along with Panchayati Raj officials, departmental personnel and other stakeholders. It will benefit representatives from 86 Gaon Panchayats across seven Development Blocks in Tinsukia district.
By strengthening knowledge, skills and institutional capacity, we aim to make Panchayati Raj institutions more efficient, transparent, accountable and people-centric, ensuring that the benefits of development reach every village and every household.
