The video of this Nigerian family being deported from Ireland should break something in every one of us Nigerians. Not because they were right or wrong to seek asylum. But because of what those comment sections reveal about how the world sees us.
Read those comments. Irish people, Europeans, Westerners, all united in one thing: they don't want Nigerians in their countries. They don't see a family. They don't see children who've integrated, excelled in school, and made friends. They see Nigerians. And to them, that alone is reason enough to send them back. Let that sink in.
Our people are not just being deported, they are being rejected. Not for crimes, not for failure, but simply for being Nigerian. And the painful part? We created this reality ourselves.
They call us fraudsters, scammers, Yahoo boys. They've painted 200 million people with one brush, ignoring the millions of hardworking Nigerians who are doctors saving lives in their hospitals, engineers building their infrastructure, nurses caring for their elderly, and lecturers teaching in their universities. Nigerians who have won Nobel Prizes, built billion-dollar companies, and contributed more to their economies than some of their own citizens.
But that narrative doesn't trend. What trends are the fraud stories, the deportations, the rejections. And we've given them enough material to keep that story alive.
You see Nigerians online celebrating foreign citizenship like they've won a lottery. Canadian passport, UK citizenship, Irish residency. We wear these like badges of honour, like we've finally escaped. But ask yourself: when last did you see a Canadian celebrating Nigerian citizenship? An Irish person throwing a party because they got a Nigerian passport? Because the value is one-sided. Deep down, even we know what we're running from.
Nigeria is not a poor country. We have oil, gas, solid minerals, arable land, and a population of over 200 million. We should be the ones other nations aspire to. We should be giving, not begging. But instead, our people are scattered across the world, sleeping in refugee camps, being humiliated at borders, and treated like burdens. E dey pain me!
Why? Because the Nigeria we've allowed to exist has become so unbearable that our citizens would rather face deportation and humiliation abroad than dignity at home. Because we've chosen bad leaders over and over. We defend them when they loot us blind. We're more interested in our tribe and religion winning than our country working.
And now the world watches us run, and they mock us for it.
You want to be angry at those comments? Fine. But the anger should be directed inward. At us. At what we've allowed Nigeria to become. At the fact that we can't even unite long enough against the "bad leaders" destroying our future.
Every Nigerian seeking asylum is a walking billboard that says: "My country has failed me." And the world sees that billboard and draws one conclusion: Nigerians are people running from a sinking ship. Walahi I dey para gan.
But here's the hard truth: no matter how many foreign passports we gather, no matter how far we run, when they look at us, they will always see Nigeria. E clear na. And if Nigeria is a failure, we are failures in their eyes. Deportable, unwanted, and disposable.
The only way this changes is if we stop running and start building. The only way the world respects us is if we make Nigeria a country worth staying in. A country where a mother doesn't have to beg Ireland for her children's future because their future is secure at home.
Until then, we will continue to be deported, mocked, and rejected. We will have no one to blame but the Nigeria we chose not to fix.
A man whose house is on fire cannot complain when his neighbours refuse to let him sleep in their barn. They know he will bring the smoke with him.
INALEGWU.
“Reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated”
Thank you for your prayers, well wishes, messages and all the love! This was definitely humbling in several unexpected ways!
Are we collectively mad in Nigeria?.
Why is everybody trying to evade Taxes?
People creating apps, narrations and all that bullshit.
Can't y'all just rebel for once??
No Healthcare, no Paramedic, Rent is expensive, School fees is expensive, Cost of living dey jump roof day by day, we had Data and airtime tarrif increased this year, Electricity tarrif increased, we buy fuel unsubsidized , Insecurity here and there, people couldn't travel to their loved ones for holidays because of insecurity on our road, kidnapping here and there.
This incumbent government has done absolutely nothing to benefit anybody in its 3 years of power.. instead they've come up with various ways to make life harder than it already was for the average person.
And now they brought tax without providing anything and y'all want to adapt??
Did somebody swear for 230 million of us all together?? Cuz inno come dey understand again.
You're supposed to revolt against TS and we're all here catching cruise on social media like it's funny.
You people actually hate your partners. It manifests in how you relate and view relationship with them.
You dragged MummyZee for doing exactly this. You dragged the TikTok women who wake up early or wake from sleep to cook for their husbands who work hard to look after the family. Yet, you're cheering for this and asking for this kind of man. To what end? That you'll find a loving and kindhearted man whom you plan not to love?
I also do not understand the men who have a problem with this. I know most of you do not want your women to be successful and do not expect them to. That is the only way to manage your ego and feel like a man. You want to be the only successful one who pay all the bills so you can control her.
Love is sacrifice. Love is death to self. Love is putting your partner's interest first. Love is consideration. Love is kind.
This manifestation of unkindness exists in various forms:
- "I love my husband, but his money is our money, and my money is my money." No, you don't love him.
- "A man must always be 5 steps ahead of his wife no matter what." You're competing with your wife and will stifle her growth to protect your ego. That is not love.
- "I love my husband, but I can never do this for any man." You eliminate endearment to make him a nondescript in order to validate your lovelessness. "Any man" Meanwhile, it is your man you're referring to.
- "Gender roles exists for a reason. A man should not be cooking." You probably believe this because you've convinced yourself you must be 5 steps ahead and always pay the bills so you won't do any other thing in the house. But love is togetherness. You're not going to remove financial contributions and responsibilities because you're a woman. You're not going to remove domestic responsibility because you're a man.
From doing things for your man or the home and collecting back twice the money in accrued interest, to refusing to commit your finances to the home, to referring to acts of service as slavery, to demanding for love you never give, to refusing to make yourself useful at home, to frustrating your woman's career progress and financial growth to protect your insecurity, among other, it shows you people do not love your partners and do not understand what togetherness mean.
not going to be rude but..
majority of terminations I see on Twitter lately are
due to very simple or stupid mistakes, such as:
1. keeping more than 1 yt channel on 1 gmail
2. thinking that you can do politics for years and get away with it
3. many channels on one Adsense, where some of them are on the edge of grey hat like AI stories with risky thumbs
4. dozens of channels and uploads per day from 1 computer and 1 IP
yeah, YouTube policy and the detection system suck for sure
but use it in your favour
when insecure people get their channels wiped out,
the niches become less crowded, so
you need to maximize your safety, without relying on youtube being honest
they don't care about your channel, it's a purely capitalistic machine
here is what to do:
- 1 gmail – 1 youtube channel
- if you're in risky spam niches and doing mass uploads/channels – use an antidetect browser with proxies or VPS
- do something with videos that are not getting traffic, flatlined, because they are not making money but only make your channel more vulnerable to YT detection, so: change the risky thumb, titles, unlist it or put “for members only” if you have an option –> trim it in the YT Studio video editor
- connect as few channels to one adsense as possible
- use as many secondary verification things as possible, such as phone numbers, recovery emails, advanced-features verification methods so channels become less connected
- be careful with misinformation, you don’t need to lie to go viral, you can exaggerate, make it catchy, add drama… but full fake stuff only hurts you, because way more people will report your videos
- if needed, hire a face for your channel to make it look more like a real human channel
- mix your risky YTA content with very original and safe content (suitable even for full black hat)
- if possible – use CMS
especially important in Q4, where rules are ruthless every year
because more ads = more money for YT, and policies are always the strictest in this time every year
RETWEET this so more people can be safer and not lose their channels
if you're a beginner, don't mind it and don’t be scared of terminations, just run your 1–2 channels
