The host for the next Intra-African Trade Fair has been confirmed.
At the opening ceremony, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, received the IATF flag on behalf of Nigeria marking Lagos as the host city for IATF2027.
Olusegun Obasanjo, Chairman of the IATF Advisory Council and former President of Nigeria, reflected on the milestone:
“Since its inception the IATF has rotated across our continent, leaving its unique legacy and improving with each host nation. Today we continue the proud tradition by announcing the country that will host IATF2027.”
With Lagos now preparing to welcome the continent in 2027, the IATF continues its mission of deepening trade and investment ties across Africa.

At the opening ceremony of IATF2025, a video traced the journey and future of the Intra-African Trade Fair.
From its launch in Cairo in 2018 with a mission to ignite intra-African trade, IATF has grown into a continental institution:
•Cairo 2018: 1,000+ exhibitors, $32.6 billion in deals
•Durban 2021: 1,500 exhibitors, $42 billion in deals
•Cairo 2023: nearly 2,000 exhibitors, $43.8 billion in deals
The video also highlighted IATF’s next chapter. It is transitioning into a treaty-based organization with headquarters in Zimbabwe, designed to be commercially viable and development-oriented.
A flagship success was spotlighted. The Julius Nyerere Hydropower Project in Tanzania, first conceived at IATF 2018, secured $700 million in financing exclusively from African institutions. The project is on track for completion in 2025 and will help address regional power shortages.
The story of IATF reflects the power of African-led solutions driving trade, investment and integration. Its future is one of scale and deeper impact.
➡️ What areas should IATF prioritise in its next phase? Join the conversation.
