The second day of activities to celebrate our 30th anniversary of the creation of Bayelsa State was a super blend of the rich culture of the Ijaw people.
The large turnout for the colourful cultural float and carnival from the Igbogene area of Yenagoa, the rich boat regatta and performances by various traditional groups were a clear testimony that our people are happy with the celebration.
I was overwhelmed with emotions seeing the crowd at the Ox-Bow Lake Pavilion, hence, I danced to the sound of the blazing music.
Let me appreciate our people for their show of love and for identifying with activities to celebrate the 30 years of progress of the State.
Following my consultation with other leaders at the event, our Government of Assured Prosperity will henceforth hold this Cultural event as an annual programme to promote our rich culture and boost tourism in the state where we invite our friends all over the world to come celebrate with us.
Once again, I congratulate every Bayelsan on this historic 30th anniversary. Nua!

Bayelsa@30: Celebrating Legacies
There is indeed every reason to celebrate our progress and milestones over the last 30 years as a state.
I recall with nostalgia my very humble contribution to the creation of this great state as a worthy “errand boy” to our leaders who were leading the State creation movement.
As one of the young people around at the time, I passionately delivered various tasks assigned to me in the collective interest of our people who have suffered long years of neglect, deprivation, environmental issues and infrastructural development.
30 years on, we have a great story to share during this celebration.
