Wow! The resolution to condemn DSA moves forward by just 1 vote. What a coincidence that 2 Democrats voted for it. That's the exact number they needed to get it through! The Republicans sure are lucky!
i understand the intention here, and i don’t think it’s what mark ruffalo was trying to do….but how does everything somehow circle back to being about how jewish people feel about the genocide/gaza?
Black Americans should ask themselves why Democrats are never this coordinated in their messaging when it comes to condemning anti-Black racism against the people they call the base of their party.
do not let a coordinated republican smear campaign become “reality.” my argument against the dangerous false conflation between zionism and judaism which in turn increases antisemitism is now turned on it’s head. zionism is not judaism. antizionism is not antisemitism.
The accusation that I am antisemitic is appalling and fundamentally dishonest. Criticizing the actions of the Israeli prime minister, a military technology contract, or the executives who supply it is not the same as criticizing Jewish people. This critical and necessary dialogue is then dishonestly framed as being anti-Israel. To be clear, my views come from my own political convictions and should never be interpreted as hostility toward Jewish people, for whom I have deep love and respect. Everything I know about acting, activism, and humanism has been profoundly shaped by the Jewish friends, colleagues, and loved ones who have been integral and family throughout every point of my life.
This merger has real consequences for real people, and for the entire country. Scrutinizing the Ellisons, including Oracle’s business built on data, surveillance technology and government contracts, and the serious threat to editorial freedom and the loss of a livelihood for thousands of families, is fair and necessary. The $111 billion deal would hand one family control over CNN, HBO and Warner Bros., backed in part by foreign money whose influence on editorial decisions has never been fully explained to the public.
Lawmakers on both sides of the aisle have called for serious national security review, and regulators still haven’t given the public a real answer. Until they do, the merger shouldn’t move forward. Now is the time to dive boldly into all these issues, not step back or concede.
🤦♂️The FBI gave her the bomb and the gun and the funds to spend at Home Depot. The government literally encouraged and enabled this terrorist plot in order to foil it. One day they’ll have to admit this how the J5/J6 pipe bomb happened as well. H/T @KyleSeraphin
In a time when Black people are still being brutalized by police, immigrants are being terrorized by ICE, and Palestinians are being killed by American-made bombs, it’s insulting to listen to American Jews complain about feeling “unsafe” simply because people criticize Israel.
The Israeli military acknowledged firing on a car carrying 5-year-old Hind Rajab in Gaza after earlier denials as it opens a criminal probe into the January 2024 killing. https://t.co/ic0oVIgw2J
fuck dan bilzerian but it’s so funny that randy fine is basically dan bilzerian level hateful for muslims (basically any minority but jews) and all these “civility fetishists” in office simply do not care. double standard is so vast it makes randy fine look normal sized.
The tactic of the GOP and Fox News for decades has been to distract and blind Americans from all the people and institutions responsible for the destruction of their economic security by feeding them the terrifying fairy tale that, somehow, the real problem in their lives are Muslims and their always-imminent sharia law, even though:
- Muslims barely constitute 1% of the US population.
- Even in the US states with the largest Muslim populations, they are roughly 3% of the population.
- In most US states, Muslims are less than 1% of the population.
- There are a grand total of 4 American Muslims in the 635-person US Congress, none in the Senate.
To look at all the pathologies plaguing the US, its communities, and American families, and then somehow embrace the fear-mongering idiocy that one of the top problems or causes are American Muslims, requires a level of coordinated, sustained, multi-pronged propaganda that is hard to fathom.
Let's be very clear about what's happening in America right now. Anti-Muslim extremists and anti-Palestinian lobby groups are deliberately and desperately trying to stoke hysteria against American Muslims. Why?
They want to win elections by scaring voters with the imaginary threat of a Muslim takeover. They want to smear and marginalize American Muslims opposed to the Gaza genocide. They want to distract conservatives who have become increasingly aware--and critical--of the Israeli government's influence over American foreign policy. Whether you look at the antics of Ted Cruz, Ben Shapiro, The New York Post, or Fox News, they seek the same result.
The good news is that many Americans are no longer falling for the Muslim boogeyman trick. Many Americans now recognize that the real problem in our nation is not American Muslims praying five times a day. The real problem is corrupt politicians who use hate to divide communities, all for the benefit of a foreign government.
Efforts to manufacture anti-Muslim hate may continue to escalate as the midterm elections approach and as Israel continues to lose support, but our organization and our community are ready for it. We will overcome this hate once and for all, and continue contributing to the betterment of our nation. Insha Allah, God willing.
El-Sayed: Now Mike, I'm just going to remind you: if you don't know how to say the name, keep the name out your damn mouth. Or just call me Abdul. But I got some opinions about his name. See, it's very fitting for him: Rogers.
Cause that's his answer every time a corporation or Donald Trump tells him to do something.
"Mike, we need you to put a data center in the backyard." — "Roger!"
"Mike, we need you to hike their prescription drug prices." — "Roger!"
"Mike, we need you to rubber-stamp this war we shouldn't be fighting." — "Roger!"
"Mike" — and this one's Donald Trump — "I need you to lick these boots." — "Roger!"
And I think—I think I speak for all of us here in Michigan when I say that we are done with Rogers. Go back to Florida where you belong!
This story is wild.
Amir Hassan, a Black ex-Muslim who went full MAGA, was endorsed by Trump and Mike Johnson.
MAGA rejected him with Islamophobic attacks even after Trump endorsed him.
He lost in the MI-08 primary to Tom Smith, a dude who dropped out and didn't even campaign.
A message for the self-hating sellouts: You are not protected from the bigotry at the center of Trump's movement because you embrace their far-right ideology.
In other words: You not like them.
This trailer is disgusting. But I can’t help but notice the obvious visual parallels to the UT Austin Tower Shooting… which was perpetrated by a Christian white man.
As were the majority of campus shootings this slopaganda is clearly drawing inspiration from.
Racism is so integral to the MAGA GOP that its members boo at the mere mention of a foreign-sounding name. Lombardo had to remind these idiots that they were booing an American hero who was killed in the line of duty. This is who Vance winked at with his “President El-Sayed” comment. He wants to win over gutter racists for 2028, and it’s profoundly, unfathomably pathetic given that these same people think less of his wife and kids because they aren’t white.
