๐ ๐Do you fish on Lough Erne? @OutdoorRecNI, on behalf of @fermanaghomagh, @daera_ni & @waterwaysirelan are carrying out a survey to review the angling product on the Erne System. To take part in the survey, please visit https://t.co/fPDrvxe3PI
@ourlivingearth As an independent recreational angling publication we passionately promote catch and release angling, unlike practically every Irish angling magazine which came before us (who mostly lacked any conservation ethos). If this shark was killed we would have not promoted it.
Arrival of quagga mussels to #Ireland was inevitable. Same family as zebra mussels, same impacts predicted. Quagga's can colonise soft substrates, so spread will likely be greater #invasivespecies#biodiversity@BioDataCentre@InlandFisherIE @InvasSpecIre https://t.co/DZo0UyqE4X
With covid restrictions extending from April 12th, hopefully this'll bring some normality back to your fishing. Quick reminder re: Irish bass regulations for 2021. If you wish, you're allowed to take 2 bass โฅ42cm per day until 31st July. #bassfishing

Good news (for now). Following appeal by @McConalogue, Court of Appeal has temporarily reinstated Policy Directive excluding large vessels (โฅ18m) from 6mile limit. This will apply at least until full hearing in June. Hope for a permanent restriction then https://t.co/8qZ2yHh3QS

2๏ธโฃ0๏ธโฃ2๏ธโฃ0๏ธโฃ has been a strange year to say the least, unprecedented in so many ways! Ignoring it all, what was your fishing highlight of 2020? We'd love to hear your stories and see any shots you might have ๐ทโคต๏ธ #fishing2020
"The systematic plundering of our bays is continuing apace.... If it was happening on land there would be uproar..." Money, money, money. The quite unbelievable attitude to our precarious sea fish stocks from @jimclohessy

Estimated 2000 tonnes of Anchovies trawled from Dingle Bay this week. All to be sent by road to Killybegs for processing into fish meal. Not illegal but immoral. @Irishwildlife@IWDGnews
Wrasse species (particularly ballans) are very slow-growing, late-maturing and long-lived. To say that removing them from the wild by the hundreds of thousands is unsustainable is a grave understatement. Quite a ridiculous situation.
Just in case you needed yet another reason NOT to buy #farmedsalmon...
"Between May 2015-November 2019, a total of 1.65 million wrasse were taken from Irish bays, mainly Mulroy & Inver in Co Donegal; Clew in Co Mayo; Kenmare, Co Kerry & Bantry, Co Cork"

Interesting report from #Clare coast of skipper Tommy Galvin who recently landed a marbled electric ray (๐๐ฐ๐ณ๐ฑ๐ฆ๐ฅ๐ฐ ๐ฎ๐ข๐ณ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ณ๐ข๐ต๐ข) in his nets. 1st confirmed #Irish record. Mediterranean species that can produce 220 volts! (stock image๐)
