@stratosarah I’m pretty sure at least this is the explanation, I’ve looked everywhere a couple months ago and this is the only one that I found that makes sense. Not much that covers it but higher altitude oxygen aurora is not always red
@stratosarah Aurora this time of year tends to be purple/blue with the sun not far below the horizon, June 22 2015 might be the best example of this, also June 1 2025

@Bermani22 Wow that’s surprising to see coronal hole aurora in such high light pollution, I’m not far from Armonk but still haven’t gotten my first true northeast aurora
