She wasn’t Jewish.
She wasn’t rich.
She wasn’t a soldier.

She was a Dutch watchmaker.

But when the Nazis invaded the Netherlands in 1940, Corrie ten Boom and her Christian family made a decision that would echo through history:

“Not in our house.”

Above their small shop in Haarlem, they built a secret room.

Not to hide.
But to save.

For four years, that tiny space sheltered over 800 Jewish men, women, and children, fleeing the Holocaust. The ten Booms joined the Dutch resistance, risking everything — not because they had to, but because their souls wouldn’t let them do otherwise.

In 1944, the Gestapo came.
Her father died.
Her sister died.
Corrie survived Ravensbrück concentration camp — barely.

But what survived even stronger was her faith, her forgiveness, and her fire.

After the war, she built a clinic for Holocaust survivors. She traveled the world preaching radical love, even forgiving the guards who brutalized her. Her memoir The Hiding Place remains one of the most soul-stirring testimonies to moral courage ever written.

In an age of fear, she became a fortress.

In an age of silence, she became a voice.

In an age of cruelty, she became a hiding place.

And may we all be brave enough to say, when the world starts to fall apart:

“Not in my house.”
