“There can be no water security without managing agricultural water use, and no food security without sustainable water use. @FAO remains fully committed to advancing the joint water-food security agenda towards the #UN2026WaterConference and beyond”, @LI_Lifeng_FAO
Last week, we held a succesful meeting on biomass valorisation for the Global South. Dennis Barbian (Netherlands Enterprise Agency) presented an excellent overview of the African Biodigester Component (ABC, https://t.co/859ParISFg) program.

Beans are highly nutritious, low-fat, and fiber-rich plant-based foods that provide a significant source of protein, complex carbohydrates, and essential micronutrients like iron, folate, potassium, and magnesium.
Most farmers wake up early, work hard, and go to bed tired.
But there’s a question many avoid asking themselves…
Are you just surviving…
or are you building something bigger?
Because there’s a difference.
The farmer who is surviving:
- Sells when there is pressure
- Buys inputs without planning
- Has no clear records
- Waits for luck, rain.
- Is always busy… but never growing
The farmer building something bigger:
- Plans before planting or stocking
- Tracks every coin and every loss
- Thinks in months and years, not just today
- Builds systems, not just routines
- Sees the farm as a business, not just work
Same soil.
Same weather.
Different mindset.
One is stuck in a cycle.
The other is building a future.
You don’t need a big farm to think big.
You don’t need many animals to act like a serious farmer.
You just need to decide…
“Am I doing this to survive… or to grow?”
Because the moment you shift your thinking,
your farm stops being a struggle…
…and starts becoming an opportunity.
In times with rising fuel and fertilizer prices, it is crucial to utilise all resources for cooking and food production. Anaerobic digestion provides a clean and cheap fuel and organic fertilizers that build soil quality and boost crop yields. #biogas#digestate#bioslurry

What sectors are better placed to absorb Africa’s growing workforce? The continent has the youngest population in the world, with more than 60% of people under 25 and millions entering the job market every year.
IFAD’s Agribusiness Hub Programme takes a multi-stakeholder approach to increasing rural youth employment. The programme's first phase has almost tripled its initial targets through smart investment in the agrifood sector, creating over 59,000 wage and self-employment opportunities across agribusiness value chains.
