So. I’m starting a Substack on the Pirates.
First, I recognize I don’t deserve to be doing a “starting a Substack” kind of post. But this isn’t really about that. This is simply me, using my writing experience and trying to gain more in the sports world:

Claiming he experienced ego death while simultaneously doing nothing in this interview (and most interviews) but talking about himself is extremely on-brand.
Aaron Rodgers says he met the “grandmother spirit” and experienced an ego death and rebirth during an ayahuasca ceremony
“I started deep on a journey where the ayahuasca is usually described as a grandmother spirit. And I met her and walked with her through past, present, and future lives. It was the most beautiful experience I could possibly imagine. I literally was able to ask her question after question about things that were on my mind and have the most beautiful journey I could possibly imagine in that setting”
“I had the end of the ego death, there’s a rebirth. In my rebirth process, I was overwhelmed by the incredible grief of my life as I knew it and the rebirth into a new perspective, a new timeline, a new trajectory. I just sat with that, and it was very difficult”
“The overwhelming sense of sadness and grief of what I was leaving behind, I sat with that for hours, probably two hours, as I was begging Grandmother to let me purge whatever was inside of me I needed to come out. And she said, ‘Not yet my son. There’s more.’
“So I sat with that and didn’t fight it and just surrendered to feeling into the depth of all those beautiful emotions, incredible experiences from the past, heartbreak, failures, frustrations, deep sadness. Then I purged at about 430 in the morning, finally. And laid there afterwards on my mat, opened my eyes, and it felt like I was opening my eyes for the first time”
@Veno202 Tbf. I’ve seen a few dozen variations of this post from Pirates fans that amount to “I’d rather baseball stop for a year so the owners can get everything they want”, which isn’t a much different chair to sit in.
@Jolly_Olive “Infield dirt is something that we’ve considered with Giancarlo. He’s smelled it, he’s felt it in his hands. Running in it is a different animal. It’s like life in many ways. Yeah, we expect Big G back for the playoffs.”
@Veno202 Meh, I listen to most of their episodes and just don’t think he believes. I think Pirates fans will have to accept that most people won’t take them too seriously till they’re physically in the playoffs.
@donnybaseballNY@jescomurph2@GolfonCBS It’s just the same thing with pitchers, there’s dudes with perfect mechanics that can’t stop getting hurt and dudes with funky motions that pitch 20 years. There’s so much more into it than swing positions.
@jescomurph2@GolfonCBS The man who won the Open last week has an extreme side bend and is still golfing his swing at 40 years old. Swing are not perfect predictors.
@JV_PITT @FranmilsEyebrow Well no, the owner died and the family then fought for years about who gets the team and ending up selling… for $3.9 billion, a $3.1 billion profit over 13 years.
The MLBPA made its first proposal to MLB today in collective bargaining. Among the topline issues:
- A "competitive-integrity tax" for any team that does not spend $150M
- Increase minimum salary from $780,000 to $1.5M
- Increase in base CBT threshold from $244M to $300M
