@itsWozzz What if they’ve already hired him, contingent on the NHL allowing it?
They’d have no choice now but to convince themselves it wasn’t so bad.
Scary thought…
@Dragoon_ARC@FierySharky Are you suggesting the Oilers have already hired him, under the condition the NHL allows it?
Possible I guess; they sure wouldn’t tell us if they had, at least not intentionally.
If so, nothing we say in the Twitterverse will make management change their mind…
@TopTierPucks I’m afraid I agree with those teams ending up ahead of the Oilers; we probably missed the window.
Might get a slight bump from a new coach, but could just as well continue the slide into Leaf and Winnipeg Territory.
Had a good run; just came up a bit short.
@FierySharky Not even close.
Back then, Feaster said he thought Jank was the best player in the draft. He’s lasted a long time and finally found his fit, but let’s not pretend he’s more than he is.
@dstaples No one wants to sign until they see how the new cap affects the market.
Between 32 teams, there’s an additional $272M available to spend, basically on pay RAISES (272 over last year’s budgets)
Not nearly enough good FA players to eat all that $, so let the bidding wars begin!
@OilersNation Only if he has the balls to stand up to Katz and run four lines all day long, win or lose.
Too much emphasis on the short game (win tonight) rather than the long game (build a complete team).
Give every player a sense of value instead of 97+29 every time things get tough.
@AzorcanGlobal True contenders couldn’t care less about actual dollars, just cap hit.
They would spend many millions more if the cap wasn’t handcuffing them.
The only teams that care about cash are small market with low budgets. Do you think that’s the type of team he wants to go to?
@JonathanWillis There’s a good chance the Oilers will be worse when Nurse is gone, but there’s also a good chance they are worse even if he stays.
So I’ll take my chances with the attempt at True Change, over Slow Erosion.
And if it doesn’t work, we get Bowman’s head on a platter . Win- win.
@jason_gidosh Won’t coach in Canada. Only agreed to coach the Canucks if he could commute from Point Roberts Washington.
We don’t have a US city 50 minutes away, with a virtually non-existent border crossing.
@SmoothOil It’s either a few days (very unlikely) or an entire season (very likely, at least for pacific rivals).
Vegas owns Cassidy until the 26-27 cup is done.
Is it worth it for an entire season, knowing 97’s future here is on the line?
@BleedOilBlue I love 97 but I wouldn’t call him influential. He sits here quietly while the organization continually screws with his legacy.
Influencers make things happen; he does that on the ice, but otherwise I don’t see him using his voice to affect change for the team or the league.
@OilersJohn I agree, but it probably doesn’t even matter anymore.
All of the best bets are either taken or unavailable, so we can only hope that whatever clown we end up with, flukes into being the right guess for this team at this time.
