The words Racism, Prejudice, Bigotry and Stereotyping are too often interchanged when they have DIFFERENT meanings. Please read and memorise the definitions before you use them against people.

Racism requires a power structure otherwise it does not work. No matter how many times you regurgitate the dictionary definition of Racism, it cannot exist without a power exchange. Which in today’s society minorities do not control.

Stereotyping is also wrong, but it is not racism. Stereotyping may not always be negative, however it is a type of prejudice, because it is generalising people based on how they appear.

Bigotry also does not involve a power dynamic. However, a bigot is someone who acts upon any form of prejudice. If could be discriminatory behaviour or aggressive behaviour, it could be based upon racist views but it is not racism.

Prejudice has no power dynamic involved, as it is purely the act of ‘pre-judging’ someone without knowing them. Racism is a type of prejudice, however they are not synonymous.
