I met with @RealDonaldTrump at Mar-a-Lago, Florida on Saturday, March 29.
During the visit, we discussed relations between Finland and US and current foreign policy issues including Ukraine.
Together with Suzanne, we welcomed President of Ukraine @ZelenskyyUa and First Lady Olena Zelenska to Finland.
During the visit, we will further strengthen the excellent relations between Finland and Ukraine.
Good conversation with @ZelenskyyUA. We discussed the situation in Ukraine after the Summit in London on Sunday. Finland will continue to support Ukraine.
Here is a recap of the Ukraine situation, for those choosing to reject propaganda and continue seeking truth:
December 1994, Ukraine agrees to give up its nuclear arsenal in return for security guarantees from the US, UK, France, China and Russia.
February 2014, Russia invades and subsequently annexes Crimea, President Obama does next to nothing. War through weakness.
July 2019, Trump admin withholds $250 million in military aid to Ukraine to apply pressure to investigate alleged corruption by Hunter and Joe Biden.
February 2022, Russia invades a weakened Ukraine, world expects Zelenskyy to flee and Kyiv to fall within days. Ukrainians fight bravely for 3+ years, inflict hundreds of thousands of casualties on Russian army, weaken Putin politically.
U.S. has sent ~$70 billion in outdated military equipment to Ukraine since start of war, providing opportunity for U.S. military to modernize its weaponry. We’ve sent an additional $30+ billion in budget support, $75 billion in ancillary appropriations related to war.
~50,000 Ukrainians have died defending their homeland, protecting U.S. and Western interests in the process. Meanwhile, the U.S. President and V.P. are calling democratically-elected Zelenskyy a dictator and berating him in Oval Office in pursuit of a financial payoff.
The U.S. should be thanking Ukrainians, who have fought for our common interests with only modest financial support from a country with a ~$30 trillion GDP.
America can and will reclaim its backbone again soon, with better policy and messaging from common sense moderates.
Slava Ukraina.
The third anniversary of the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion. Three years of absolute heroism by our people.
Eternal memory to all who stood up in defense of our state and our people, giving their lives so that Ukraine may live.
Eternal gratitude to the fallen heroes—the gratitude of Ukraine, the gratitude of all free nations.
🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦
All the leaders of the Nordic-Baltic 8 are in Ukraine today. This is a partnership we are proud of.
I am grateful for the €26 billion in military aid provided to Ukraine over the three years of Russia’s full-scale aggression, as well as for the investments in our domestic production.
We discussed ways to further expand our security cooperation, Ukraine’s membership in the EU and NATO, and preparations for the fifth Ukraine – Nordic Summit.
We must continue working just as effectively within Europe. Together, we are protecting the lives of Ukrainians and the security of our continent.

Three years of resistance. Three years of gratitude. Three years of absolute heroism of Ukrainians. I am proud of Ukraine! I thank everyone who defends and supports it. Everyone who works for Ukraine. And may the memory of all those who gave their lives for our state and people be eternal. 🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦

It is simple. The fastest way to stop the war in Ukraine is for Russia to stop the invasion, stop killing POWs and stop bombing cities. Let Ukraine be Ukraine, and let them follow their own path. They’ve had centuries of Russian domination and they hate it.
If Trump wants to see elections in Ukraine, all he has to do is use the power he keeps talking about to get the Russian invaders off Ukrainian soil. Then martial law in Ukraine ends, and elections will follow.
I spoke with U.S. Senator @LindseyGrahamSC . We greatly appreciate the bicameral and bipartisan support of the US Congress to the Ukrainian people in our fight against the Russian aggression.
As always, Senator Graham is constructive and doing a lot to help bring peace closer. It’s all-important that security guarantees remain on the table—and that they work for Ukraine, for real and lasting peace.
Thank you for your support.
Congratulations to @realDonaldTrump on his impressive election victory!
I recall our great meeting with President Trump back in September, when we discussed in detail the Ukraine-U.S. strategic partnership, the Victory Plan, and ways to put an end to Russian aggression against Ukraine.
I appreciate President Trump’s commitment to the “peace through strength” approach in global affairs. This is exactly the principle that can practically bring just peace in Ukraine closer. I am hopeful that we will put it into action together.
We look forward to an era of a strong United States of America under President Trump’s decisive leadership. We rely on continued strong bipartisan support for Ukraine in the United States.
We are interested in developing mutually beneficial political and economic cooperation that will benefit both of our nations. Ukraine, as one of Europe's strongest military powers, is committed to ensuring long-term peace and security in Europe and the Transatlantic community with the support of our allies.
I am looking forward to personally congratulating President Trump and discussing ways to strengthen Ukraine's strategic partnership with the United States.
