Today, #D4vd ’s lawyers withdrew as counsel, and a public defender was appointed to represent him. It was also noted that he qualified for public representation, meaning he was found financially eligible for appointed counsel and could no longer afford to continue with private representation.
Before his arrest, David transferred assets into a trust controlled by his mother. There is no indication that the trust has sold the real estate transferred into it.
This makes me wonder whether David’s mother, acting as trustee, has decided that the trust will not use its assets to pay for David’s defense.
If David were considering an early plea deal, I believe Blair Berk would have tried to negotiate that for him, considering the substantial amount he has already spent on her representation to date.
This development could also significantly delay an eventual trial date. I would not be surprised if a private attorney ultimately steps in to represent him pro bono.#D4vd #CelesteRivasHernandez
