I want a futurism that feels like this. Like we've mastered nature and mastered the human-scale longed for ideals.
Not like flying plastic or plants on top of glass-plastic
A phenomenon I’ve observed over time is that every time I’ve met someone who has a huge & specific grievance about ‘how people are’ vs how they ought to be, that person is almost always eliciting the behavior from others without realizing it.
I.e. Once met someone who was HUGE on inclusivity in communities & never kicking anyone out. Meeting them, I thought ‘sure that’s a nice value.’ Down the line, saw firsthand that they had patterns of instigating conflict unnecessarily, seeing others reactions (distancing themselves, sharing their hurt, etc.) as bullying of *them* and had therefore been kicked out of communities an abnormal number of times.
Another time, I got close to someone who was obsessed with ‘good faith’ & honesty in relationships. I thought, ‘sure, that’s a nice value.’ Down the line, learned that this person become so insulting and manipulative at the slightest indication of rejection that the only way to safely be close with them was to be abnormally withholding of any sort of sensitive information (and in some cases to outright lie).
There are more cases of this I could give however the underlying point is that I truly believe both of these people (& many others I could reference) genuinely believed they had pinpointed a ‘fault’ in mankind’s general nature that others weren’t brave enough to take issue with, when in fact they were seeing way more of the problem than the average person due to blind spots/distortions they had that were eliciting said behavior more consistently in others.
When we talk about ‘toxic’ people playing the victim, I think the thing that gets missed is that a lot of the time they’re not playing. They really are blind to how their own distortions are continuously recreating the situations they most want to avoid.
It’s a sad cycle (for everyone involved!) but way more accurate to understand it through the lens of distortions (in most cases) than assuming conscious intent.
"...they don't see human beings as two-legged creatures, either. They see them as great millipedes - with babies' legs on one end and old people's legs at the other."
@exoticpartic1e@legitimatetiger I too see it like this, I've always been able to zoom out and notice the overarching themes, the foreshadowing, the symbolism. Wow this reply section is my people 😍
@dharani1405@legitimatetiger The way we traverse it by living. It's like a video frame by frame. Each movement, each second, moves you further along your life. If you zoom out far enough, your life is one big movie, right?
@legitimatetiger Yes yes yes this is precisely it, I had this exact revelation of it being like watching a clip frame by frame. This is why you feel drawn to stuff, because they'll play a big part in your future. Yes this is it
in awe because i’ve never seen anyone depict it this clearly before. if you feel a strange recognition upon seeing this, it’s because your soul remembers.
you’ve seen it countless times after physical death… in fact, you’re probably seeing your life this exact way from outside space-time rn. your birth and your death are happening simultaneously, and the only one who cannot see the wholeness of all stacked frames in between is the human you.
As a Slavic woman, I am going to give you some advice, because I know that you need it. Be a problem. Be an absolute menace. Be as crazy as you can be, especially when it comes to men. With crazy, I don't mean cussing him out or slashing his tires. Slavic women don't do that. I mean be so unapologetically yourself that it scares him. He needs to fear you. He needs to know his place. You are the closest thing to God. He is accompanying you, but he needs to be good to deserve that place. Don't hold back. Say the thing that nobody is saying out loud. Call him out on his bullshit. Have high standards. Tell him what you want. Be up front and direct. And don't beat around the bush. The right man will think: "I have to keep this one. I am scared of her, but I need to do everything in my power to keep her." And the wrong man will eliminate himself really quickly. Because he will either know that he isn't capable of fulfilling your needs, or he will think that you are completely batshit crazy. Which is fine. Who cares? Stop being a good girl. Stop ignoring your needs and your standards just to keep a man. If you have to do that, that man is not yours to keep. But take care of yourself. Take care of your appearance. Don't walk around looking homeless. If you're going to have high standards for men, first you need to have high standards for yourself. I believe in you. Good luck.
