Nah -- I was in college in 2000 shucking oysters at a bar to pay for my beer habit.
Every time a sorority event occurred every girl walked in wearing the one-shoulder strap tops (remember those back then?) most had real or fake blonde hair, etc... they all looked the same.
Nothing changes. Only the style.
In addition and unrelated, every Wednesday, we had $0.25/oyster night. Kind of like wing night but different.
There was a HUGE fat woman. Local, not college student. Maybe professor or maybe just local local. But this was at Big Al's in Blacksburg VA, so who knows at this point. I hope I'm not calling her out here.
EVERY Wednesday, she would thunder in and as soon as I saw her, I knew I was going to work. Popping oysters open as fast as possible, Tossing the gross ones and setting up a nice platter. (If you've ever shucked oysters, you know what I mean).
Because this woman, ALONE, would order 5 dozen raw oysters EVERY SINGLE WEDNESDAY!
I still do not know how that is possible.
I did that once in college. Granted we had just come back from Amsterdam and were flying out of Frankfurt.
We didn't have enough money for the trip alone. An unexpected extra 24hrs on the tiniest of budgets in Europe (2002ish) was kind of crazy.
You know what? It's just a funny story amongst friends now.
This is not hard. This is almost certainly not allowed in your municipality. Figure out how to enforce it and it's over.
In the UNLIKELY event that it is allowed, now you have an engineering project because you're going to have fun building the device that blasts a billion watts of light right back at them.
Dude. Teslas are legit. You're a good dude. You proved it in the Jan 6 nonsense. But don't fall for the EVs are gay line that the @catturd2 type people of the world promote.
EVs aren't for everyone. They don't fit every mission. But they do fit SOME missions and they are really good at that.
Eviction court today @ 9am this morning. Handful of clients. Normally out of court by 10 or maybe 11 on a weird day. Everything went fine for all clients but one.
One tenant was one of those "sovereign citizen" people. Hearing derailed. Held till the end of the last docket. Finally, after hours of waiting, magistrate says we can start.
I present my standard case: You rent to this person? Yes. They supposed to pay rent every month? Yes. Did they stop? Yes. Want 'em out? Yes. Nothing further.
Tenant presents all the standard sovereign citizen BS. Claims no jurisdiction. Claims they are representing the person who they are (paraphrasing here, but: "I am the person representing the human being named Johnny Tenant"). Probably 5-10 minutes of rambling.
I literally ignored some of it to walk back to the "attorneys' table" and arrange some writ filings and other docs as they rambled on.
Magistrate asks if I want to cross or present rebuttal.
No.
Judgment for my client.
What a waste of time.
Don't give it to charity. They'll waste it.
You could give it to me, in a trust or other financial vehicle that ensures a level of responsibility, and it would do far more good. I'm a lawyer, pilot, family man.
Hell, you could give it to almost any non-retarded person and do better than charity.
@OldVetvp I've got a trip planned to Vietnam next year with an old college buddy.
We are just going so in conversation, we can say: "well, back in 'Nam..."
@Mel_Mels_ Imagine being an adult and using straws.
Worse, imagine being an adult and using a straw when it really is necessary and pulling your own glass straw out of your purse.
Now, imagine that this causes you anxiety for 4 years!
We have these situations all the time in Ohio.
Escrowing your rent is a thing here. Few take advantage of it. Then an escrow hearing can be held and depending on the facts, either the landlord will get their rent, or they'll get the balance after the plumbing bill.
The vast majority of the time, there is no escrow. No rent? 3-day notice. Then eviction filing. 14-21 days to hearing and the plumbing issue isn't even admissible.
