it's nintendo's fault of course for conditioning them, because now some people really can't handle when a mario game doesn't decide to be extremely easy
this kind of environmental design is what retros donkey kong country games are amazing at, making everything tangible and connected made the levels feel insanely alive
random observation:
In Silksong, Team Cherry does a big effort to attach most "floating platforms" to the environment, as opposed to Hollow Knight environments which often consist of very "gamey" platforms. This touch is partly why Pharloom feels so incredibly immersive to me
