i was upset in both ways. tbh, i was hurt seeing her choose differently when CORTIS was directly competing, especially after everything she had given to support us - the charts, data, achievements, coordination, and all the time and effort she put into helping coers through award seasons. of course that stung, and i think we’re allowed to admit that.

but i’m also upset at how far the backlash went. she had always been honest about where her loyalties started, so i don’t think her choice suddenly makes everything she did for CORTIS meaningless. it’s not about treating her contributions as irreplaceable either - there are many coers who have been doing the same kind of work and i appreciate them all. it’s about acknowledging that she was there, time and time again, when we needed those charts, data, updates, and coordination, and i genuinely appreciate that. i won’t take any of it for granted. even if we don’t make the same choices when it matters, she remains one of my favorite accounts in coertwt.

i’m not on anyone’s side. my side is CORTIS, and my choices don’t depend on what anyone else chooses. being more self-aware, having more self-esteem, and trying to be a better person every day is part of what CORTIS inspires me to do. so i hope we can remember that too. we can protect our fandom’s interests and still choose kindness. our disappointment is valid, but it doesn’t justify driving someone off the platform. both things can be true.

observe but don’t absorb. love but don’t depend. want but don’t need. feel but don’t dwell.
