Extremely important message ๐.
I know as traders we are all told to compound compound compound.. but capital markets aren't meant to be leveraged to the tits.. nor have ALL of your liquidity subject to market volatility.
I can only imagine the gut-wrenching pain some of you are going through at the moment, and I hope you can find some peace moving forward. These are scar tissues that don't go away... ever.
When you are small, diversification doesn't really matter.. because you don't have enough of a pie to diversify.
BUT, when you start compounding capital.. it's important to re-balance your holdings atleast once a quarter, especially if you are outperforming in one asset class.
I personally will not keep more than 20% of my liquid net worth in a trading account. When it gets too large, I withdraw it and reset.
Invest that money into real estate, index funds, gold, and other alt investments.
It may feel like everything is in a bubble at the moment, but atleast if one asset sees a liquidation event, it doesn't effect your entire portfolio.
Either you learn the hard way, or you take preventative measures so you don't have to in the future.
South Africaโs ANC is facing a major political collapse. Voters are losing faith in ANC.
โข ANC support has dropped below 50% across most groups
โข Even among black South African voters, it is polling under 50%
โข Rural support is also below 50%
โข Only 4% of suburban voters say they would vote ANC
People are getting poorer.
Real GDP per person has fallen from over R80,000 in 2012 to around R75,000 in 2025.
Job creation has also collapsed from about 1 million new jobs a year in the early 2000s to around 100,000 a year under Ramaphosa.
Many South Africans feel their lives are getting worse.
The government also continues to block Starlink from launching. The service is already operating in many other African countries. This denies high-speed internet to millions of South Africans, especially in rural areas. It limits education, small business growth, and economic opportunities. Their corrupt officials even asked Elon Musk for bribes to approve Starlink, but he rightfully refused.
