OIC General Secretariat Holds Coordination Meeting to Prepare for Training Programme on Youth, Cultural Diplomacy and Leadership Skills Development

The General Secretariat of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), in cooperation with the Ministry of Sport of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, held a virtual coordination meeting today, 13 August 2026, to prepare for a hybrid OIC training programme on “Youth, Cultural Diplomacy and Leadership Skills Development,” scheduled to be held on 3 September 2026 at the OIC General Secretariat, as part of the celebration of OIC Youth Day.

The meeting was attended by a number of speakers participating in the training programme, as well as representatives of OIC organs and institutions. The meeting reviewed the draft programme and the themes of the training sessions, in addition to discussing the necessary arrangements for the implementation of the programme. The Islamic Solidarity Fund also provided clarifications regarding the organisational and coordination aspects related to the training course.

The training course aims to enhance young people’s knowledge and skills in the fields of cultural diplomacy and leadership development, while providing them with a platform to discuss issues and challenges related to youth empowerment. This is intended to support the OIC’s efforts to strengthen the capacities of young people, develop their leadership skills, and empower them to contribute effectively to the development of their communities.

A number of young people and officials responsible for youth affairs from OIC Member States are expected to participate in the programme, alongside representatives of OIC organs and institutions, as well as partner international and regional organisations.

Assistant Secretary-General for Humanitarian, Cultural and Social Affairs Meets Permanent Secretary of the Nigerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs

The Assistant Secretary-General for Humanitarian, Cultural and Social Affairs, Ambassador Dr. Tarig Ali Bakheet, met with the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Ambassador Dr. Dunoma Umar Ahmed, at the Ministry’s headquarters in the capital, Abuja, on Wednesday, 12 August 2026.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed areas of joint cooperation between the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the Federal Republic of Nigeria in various fields, particularly in humanitarian, social, and cultural areas.
The two sides also reviewed ways to enhance coordination and consultation, and agreed on a number of constructive steps aimed at further developing joint cooperation and strengthening the partnership between the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and Nigeria in these fields.

On the occasion of International Youth Day 2026, His Excellency Mr. Hissein Brahim Taha, Secretary-General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), extended his warm congratulations to young people around the world, particularly the youth of the OIC Member States.
He noted with appreciation that the theme of this year’s observance, “Different Contexts, Common Aspirations,” aptly reflects the rich geographical, cultural and socio-economic diversity of the OIC family, while highlighting the shared aspirations of its youth for sustainable development, skills development, meaningful participation and a prosperous future. The Secretary-General stated: “Our youth may live in different contexts and face diverse challenges, but they share common aspirations for dignity, opportunity, peace and a better future. The OIC remains firmly committed to investing in their potential, equipping them with the knowledge, skills and opportunities they need to become active leaders of sustainable development and agents of peace and positive change.
