For a company that's supposed to protect your "identity", it's just sad to see @okta breached twice this year. Goes to show the importance of #datasecurity. You can't take it lightly.
@SinovateChain I'm confused. Blockchain is a ledger system that verifies the authenticity of a digital entity; in this case new files or changes to existing ones. How is that incorruptible? It's not like it prevents changes. It just tracks them. Not the same as immutable, air-gap or encryption.

Reminder: Automate your #backups so you have something to fall back on in the event somebody does an "oopsie", or a #ransowmare attacks, or both.

#Decentralized#datastorage sounds good and all but what happens when you need a large file and your network's slow or being used by other processes? Or unavailable?
In an ideal world, it would sound pretty good but realistically, doesn't sound right. What'd you think? 👇
Not to downplay deduplication too much though, if done right, it's pretty nice. You save up space, and get more better ROIs. When is that ever bad? But should it be THE priority for a #backupappliance? I don't think so.
What do you think? Comment 👇
#Deduplication is good to have only if you've got the compute resources. If not, you're better off getting more storage capacity than overloading your processor and system memory.
More on #dedup 👇
Imagine, how odd it would be if your backups are encrypted by a #ransomware because you didn't have good data security. BUT the backups were nicely compressed and used little #storage because you had dedup. Wouldn't that make your CTO go "Seriously?"
@ONPASSIVE That's interesting - with petabyte-scale systems and high performance computing (HPC), not to mention scalable cloud computing, what exactly do you mean by a "predicament" for sustainable data storage?
