Changing the lens
There has been a rise in #nonbinary models in Indian #fashion, but has it led to an inclusive and diverse narrative?

We are so proud of our former Labbie Avanti who has started her new blog 'The Low Waster' on #sustainableliving, how to reduce waste in our everyday lives and to make more planet-friendly consumption choices.
@onefuture_india@ruchiks127 @chintan_connect @PrithviVatsalya @disabledspice It’s important to ALWAYS carry supporting quotes/interviews from queer individuals. Few other rules are: refer to queer folx with their correct pronoun (do your homework, do not assume). Portray them appropriately, do not fetishise queer folx or look at them as comic relief.
@onefuture_india@ruchiks127 @chintan_connect @PrithviVatsalya @disabledspice Ensuring diverse representation and visibility is important. Allowing queer individuals to tell their own stories, including 'ALL' members from LBGTQIA+ groups before reaching to a generalisation and including other linked conversations about caste, class & more. #queermedia
@onefuture_india@ruchiks127 @chintan_connect @PrithviVatsalya @disabledspice Recognising where these brands/corporates invest their funds. Often corporates might seem pretty woke but could also be funding govt strategies or other not so visible policies that are queer and transphobic. #queermedia
@onefuture_india@ruchiks127 @chintan_connect @PrithviVatsalya @disabledspice Accountability is necessary. For Eg: when it comes to brands & corporates it’s important to know if they have queer-friendly policies at their own workplaces. Ranging from gender-neutral washrooms, same-sex partner benefits, health insurances & more. #queermedia
@chintan_connect @onefuture_india@ruchiks127@PrithviVatsalya @disabledspice This also highlights the lack of diversity. Some of the key questions to ask would be are there enough/any queer people in their team?
@onefuture_india@ruchiks127 @chintan_connect @PrithviVatsalya @disabledspice Mainstream media spotlights narratives of mostly cis gay men, the other identities in the queer spectrum are neglected. For instance, queer individuals of colour, trans and GNC folx, lesbian and bisexual women to name a few. #queermedia
