“It is the barest minimum official place.” Let's assume that is true. Question: Do you think what some men wear in CCI today is acceptable for some interviews? I mean, if I wear a crew neck and jeans to church, I won't be sent back, but God help me if I wear that to interviews. Another example: I can't wear a ceremonial dress to an interview.
Here is my point: let's stop using interviews as the baseline, because we will not even pass that criteria.
We use our biases in these judgments, and that is fine, but we must be aware of these biases. Half the people who come to CCI can walk through the door of a Catholic church or even an Anglican Church. In RCCG, you're not even allowed, as a man, to wear a cap into church. The reasons are not rooted in any biblical principle.
Every interesting,
While I was in CU, I was active in church and in TC ( media unit in church) from alpha semester, 100 level, to my last day in school. I moved away from the faith and abandoned any church because the most nefarious people I met in CU were wolves masquerading as spiritual people. So I decided to stop church activities to focus on my academics, and I had one of the highest GPAs at the time, but during my final year in engineering college, I found God, or should I say God found me. I doubled down on my faith and church work, and with my final project and the required tenacity of final year, I ended up with a first-class result, the highest GPA I'd had in my entire stay at CU
Lol...CU Grad here
- Went for covenant hour of prayer every morning (no choice back then)
- Served in the choir (I score songs tire 😭😭)
- Didn't miss a service (didn't have a choice)
- Went for other spiritual programs
Bagged a first class
You can serve God and win in life
Let’s flip the table. As a born-and-bred Anglican, I was appalled by the dressing the first time I went to CCI. I thought it was ostentatious and specious. I was befuddled by the jumping and shouting, but yet I stayed, as uncomfortable as it was. So before you jump and crucify this guy in the comments, know that half of the members of CCI will not make it through the doors of the Orthodox Church. It is also important to note that I dont totally agree with the restrictions of the Dress code in the Orthodox Churches, but I respect it. So he also should respect the dress code, since there is one. But to vilify him would be to try to remove the speck from his eye while you have wood in your own eye.
Whosoever this guy is, I pray the lord guides his heart, and that he doesn’t grow resentful or spiteful to the body of Christ, I pray tha devil doesn’t use this as an opportunity to take him away from the army of God. Amen.
Honestly, think about it for a moment, I wear formal wear through out the week, then on Sunday I should now wear office wear again. The ludicrousness of the premise that he should dress as though he is going to the office is in itself indefensible. I go to CCI Lagos Island, and some church dress styles aren't even allowed in most offices. The age-old problem with the church is that we love performance more than a genuine heart.
The biggest problem with this dress-well thing is that there is no specific definition of dressing well or of indecent dressing. Where do we draw our definition from? In today's church, more than half of its members would be considered indecently dressed by the church of the 1990s.
Christians wear earrings, wear dreads, and cornrows; none of these are acceptable in 2010 rccg or even Winners Chapel. So where do we draw the line?

We need to be careful about how we address these things.
First, I don’t think there is anything wrong with dressing like this. It may not be conventional, but you can’t say, in principle, that he is dressed poorly.
Second, I've heard people say things like, “If he had an interview, would he dress like this?” Dressing has become such a big part of church activities. They say that if a pastor, a true, genuine pastor, wears a T-shirt and dress pants, he won’t be taken seriously. Where do we draw the line? At what point on the spectrum do you say these clothes are inappropriate? In a Chevron interview, you won’t be allowed to wear cornrows as a man, but men in CCI are allowed to wear different hairstyles, so where do you really draw the line?
Lastly, there are churches in this country that believe women shouldn’t wear earrings or men shouldn’t wear caps to church. While I agree that we should respect people's cultures and beliefs, we can, however, say that these views don’t make sense or aren’t rooted in any biblical principle.
I will try to judge the person's intention: Are you wearing this provocatively, or is this truly your dress sense? Because now you have chased a brother away from the assembly of God without being able to state the sin he has committed.
Forget that I always banter them
