Nigeria plans to raise $5 billion through a total return swap deal with the First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB), the United Arab Emirates' largest lender.
The complex derivative agreement allows Nigeria to access capital at a lower cost than traditional eurobonds by pledging local naira-denominated securities as collateral.

The loan facility spans 6 years, which includes annual rollover options and a 3-year mutual break clause.

The capital is intended to finance the 2026 budget deficit, fund infrastructure like roads and ports, and refinance more expensive existing debt.
