#Okpebholo365Days: Education as the Power of Progress
Education stands at the heart of Governor Monday Okpebholo’s SHINE Agenda, with a ₦48 billion 2025 budget dedicated to improving access, quality, and skills development across Edo State. From rebuilding schools in the Okhoro–Egor axis to equipping Ehor Technical College and other institutions with modern laboratories and ICT facilities, the administration is transforming learning environments. Over 500 new teachers have been recruited, subventions to Ambrose Alli University (AAU) increased to ₦500 million, and regular promotions, data management trainings, and the production of standardised lesson scripts have elevated teaching quality. The Edo State Board for Technical and Vocational Education (BTVE) has also begun recruiting demonstrators to strengthen vocational and technical education, aligning with the state’s vision of skills for the future.
Governor @m_akpakomiza's reforms extend beyond classrooms to policy, protection, and innovation. Measures such as banning costly graduation parties, introducing skill certification for JSS graduates, and promoting textbook reuse have curbed exploitation and reduced financial burdens. Through partnerships with the World Bank, community leaders and school committees are being trained to protect learners under the Violence Against Learners Response System (VALRS). Meanwhile, youth-focused projects like the Edo Tech City, the AAU–China student exchange programme, and the 2025 Governor’s Cup promote digital creativity, global exposure, and holistic education. With digital integration, anti-cultism advocacy, and inclusive learning reforms, Edo State is fast emerging as a beacon of educational innovation and empowerment.
