Nearly two years ago, during an Israeli military incursion into Gaza’s Zeitoun neighbourhood, Israeli forces surrounded Palestinian detainee Majdi Al-Ayyoubi, his mother, and his wife, who was nine months pregnant.

While Majdi was being tortured during a so-called field interrogation, an Israeli officer ordered his mother and wife to walk north. Shortly afterwards, Israeli forces bombed them, killing both women and his unborn son. A Shin Bet officer then boasted to Majdi about their killing. They murdered his family and turned his grief into yet another instrument of torture.

I shared some of the darkest chapters of suffering with Majdi inside the Sde Teiman torture camp. We were held together in the section they called “Hell,” where he endured both the agony of his injuries and the unbearable loss of his family.

Majdi survived captivity and emerged from that graveyard of the living. Yet Israel would not let him live.

Just moments ago, Israeli forces killed Majdi in a strike on a vehicle in Gaza City. He has now joined his mother, his wife, and the son he never had the chance to hold in his arms.

Majdi carried his longing for that child until his very last breath.

I keep coming back to this @taiwoyedele's explanation of a subsidy being disguised as a discount, and it got me thinking.

I can only imagine how many supposedly intelligent aides Pharaoh must have had. Yet their supposed intelligence could neither save him nor spare them the indignity of defending the indefensible.

They must have had to explain and justify the most ridiculous things, regardless of their personal convictions or how foolish it made them look.

Intelligence means nothing if it is cowed by power. Are you working for a Pharaoh @taiwoyedele, aren't you worried of what might happen to you when Tinubu loses the elections?

Atiku spent money to consult oil and gas experts to see how to restore the subsidy based on the current economic reality

Peter Obi did not consult but said will removed subsidy but when his boss, Kwankwaso said they will removed subsidy in their own way, 5 days later Peter changed to subsidy restoration.

Tinubu didn't consult before removing the subsidy and didn't set up palliatives for 3 years until Atiku started criticising him.

Today, Atiku’s opponents: Peter and Bola copied the advice he got from the oil and gas experts who advised him on subsidy restoration.

The difference is clear.
