From today there are no border controls between Gibraltar and Spain. Schengen checks are at the Gibraltar airport (and port) but for non residents of the EU time spent in Gibraltar count toward the time spent in the Schengen area…

Today Labour’s Gibraltar surrender deal - announced today with no debate - has once again undermined British sovereignty, repeating the mistakes of the Windsor Framework and the Chagos debacle.

The terms of the deal are shocking: Spanish officials will now conduct border checks within Gibraltar. Spain can withdraw individuals’ residency in Gibraltar, even if they already live there. Goods sold in Gibraltar must comply with EU regulations. Gibraltar is now subject to a new ‘transaction tax’ to align it with the EU. And Gibraltar must adopt new EU laws or the agreement will automatically be terminated.

The practical effect is that foreign officials will decide who and what can enter British territory. British citizens’ fingerprints will be taken and passports checked within our own territory.

At the same time, Spain has conceded nothing about its claim to Gibraltar. No self-respecting British government should be willing to accept this.

To make matters worse, Parliament and the British public have only seen the final text of this deal today, but it takes effect tomorrow. Labour have shut us out of this process and are avoiding scrutiny.

A Reform Government will stand up for our national interest and overturn this one-sided, disgraceful deal.

There can be no shared sovereignty between Britain and Spain. Gibraltar is British, not Spanish, and that is how it must remain. This is not up for negotiation or dilution by a thousand individual concessions.

And there must be no border between Gibraltar and the United Kingdom. Spanish or EU border and customs officials must not be allowed to operate in Gibraltar, or have a say in who and what can enter our territory. So sorry to learn of Ann Widdecombe’s death We were on opposite sides on the hunt ban but we became co -campaigners to Leave the EU and more recently against the Windsor Framework Her speech as a staunch Roman Catholic in Dromore Orange Hall was met by a standing ovation We just don’t make outspoken principled politicians like her anymore

I chaired the student arm and we had groups across 55 universities and colleges.

A burial service with full military honours has taken place at our London Cemetery and Extension in France for Second World War pilot, Squadron Leader George Marley Fidler from Great Ayton, North Yorkshire.

In 2022, work on the Seine-Nord Canal at Oisy-le-Verger in northern France, unearthed a Hurricane with the pilot still inside near to where Sqn Leader Fidler’s aircraft was last seen. Our Recovery Unit recovered his remains and DNA testing then proved this pilot was Sqn Leader Fidler. You can read more on his recovery on our website.

“It is an honour for the Commission to pay our respects to Sqn Ldr Fidler, following the 2022 discovery of his Hurricane along the route of the future Canal Seine-Nord Europe. That another commemorative service will be held today at his local church - in Great Ayton, Yorkshire - shows the power and impact of his war experience eight decades on. #kingscross Tube - alarms start blaring "due to an incident passengers must leave immediately" on loop and obviously some people react calmly but others shove on the stairs out. Not helped particularly with staff shouting like banshees, leading people to panic/assume the worst.
