Yes, Eric Dolphy performed Edgard Varèse's Density 21.5 at the Ojai Music Festival in 1962. That was a historic moment in the (ongoing) rapprochement of jazz and classical music. If Dolphy had lived longer, he would probably have been involved in more projects of this sort.
